The Amazon Echo can do a lot - more than any other smart speaker - but it's not all useful. While Amazon's openness to developers give the Echo and Alexa a clear advantage over competitors, it's still early days for smart speakers. The Echo can do a couple of tasks really well, but there's also a lot of undercooked "skills" around. We're hoping that these will continue to mature, but for the time being, Echo is perhaps best seen as a potential look at the future of computing.
