felix has a focus on keeping things simple. It offers three mobile plans, all of which are free from excess charges. While technically prepaid, felix's plans are billed for the full calander month so you don't need to worry about any sneaky 28-day recharges. 

felix doesn't offer phones on a plan so as long as you've got your own phone you can sign up for one of felix's SIM-only plans.

felix is still the only telco that offers a truly unlimited data plan. Most telcos that offer unlimited or infinite data have full-speed data up until the point you use up your data allowance. Then they throttle your speeds down to around 1-2Mbps. 

felix's most expensive plan still has a capped data speed but it's 20Mbps which though still basic in many aspects is much better. It's slightly slower than what you can expect on an NBN 25 connection. It's fast enough to stream HD video on your phone, download apps and perform all the regular tasks your phone can do. 

Unlimited data on felix's other plans

You still get no excess data charges on its other plans but these operate similarly to other telcos. On those plans, once your allowance is used up your speeds are reduced to 1.5Mbps.

You won't find any felix loyalty program. But there are a few perks it has that are worth calling out:

• International roaming. felix has one simple roaming pack that can be added for $20. This includes 4GB of data, 100 texts and 100 minutes of call time. It has a one-year expiry so you can easily make use of it over a couple of trips, especially if you use public WiFi where you can
• International calls. For an additional $5 per month, you can add unlimited international calls and texts to around 40 popular countries
• Tree planting. As we've already mentioned, as a carbon neutral company felix focuses on sustainable iniaitives. Each month it plants a tree for each of its customers. You can see how many trees you've contributed to the planting of via the app. You can also donate data from your data bank to plan an extra tree 
• Data banking. On felix's plans without its 20Mbps unlimited data, you do still get unlimited data banking so you can stow away any extra you haven't used

Unlike many other Aussie telcos, felix mobile is an entirely online business. You can sign up for a SIM card online at the felix website, or you can download the felix app to your phone and order a new service from within the app.

What happens if I want to cancel my felix plan?

All of felix's plans are contract-free, so you can cancel or switch your plan every month without penalty. When you cancel you lose any banked data you have accrued.

What happens if I go over my monthly data allowance? 

felix has no excess data charges, if you use up your monthly data allowance your maximum speed will be throttled to 1.5Mbps. Which is just enough for basic browsing, albeit quite slow. 

What network does felix mobile use?

felix is owned and operated by TPG Telecom which also owns Vodafone. As such, felix uses the Vodafone 4G and 5G network in Australia.

Does felix offer 5G?

All felix plans come with 5G network access, however the speed caps varies from 20Mbps to 150Mbps.
