Apple just announced its 2026 iPhones, and the iPhone 18 Pro is one of the company's top-end models. Building on the foundation of the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro adds a variable aperture camera, a new chipset, and even longer battery life.
In this guide, we'll look at plans, deals, pricing, and key features for the iPhone 18 Pro.
iPhone 18 Pro plans
The iPhone 18 Pro is available on mobile plans from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. All three providers offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayment terms. A 24-month term means you own your iPhone 18 Pro faster, while a 36-month term brings down your monthly cost. Vodafone also offers 48-month plans for an even lower cost.

If you're looking to get your iPhone 18 Pro on a plan, there are a few solid telco deals around.
Vodafone: If you pick up an iPhone 18 Pro on a Vodafone plan, you'll get a $13 per month discount on plan fees for your first 12 months. Vodafone is also offering $200 in extra credit if you trade in an old phone, on top of your old phone's existing value.
Telstra: If you opt for a Telstra iPhone 18 Pro plan, you'll get a $10 per month discount on plan fees for your first 12 months. Telstra will also give you $300 in extra credit if you trade in an old phone, on top of your old phone's existing value.
How much does the iPhone 18 Pro cost in Australia?
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max got a little or a lot more expensive this year, depending on how much storage you're looking at. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max now start at $2,099 and $2,299, respectively. That's a $100 increase compared to the 2025 models, which is the same if you're looking at a 512GB model.
The hikes are much steeper on the 1TB and 2TB models. The 1TB iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are $500 more expensive than what you'd pay for a 1TB iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max, while the 2TB iPhone 18 Pro Max is $900 more expensive. Apple also introduced a 2TB iPhone 18 Pro Max for the first time, and you'll pay $4,499 for it.

iPhone 18 Pro design
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max don't look too different from 2025's iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Like the previous models, the phones feature a camera plateau, a build that is largely aluminium, and a Ceramic Shield glass panel to enable wireless charging. The glass panel is coloured matched to the aluminium, however, for what Apple calls a more refined look.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max both have the same display size as last year's models, measuring in at 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch, respectively. The physical Dynamic Island is slightly smaller, however, and as a result, can now display up to three Live Activities at once.
Both phones are available in a choice of silver, black, glacier, and burgundy.
iPhone 18 Pro camera
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have three 48MP cameras on the back: a new 48MP primary lens, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens. The 48MP primary lens now has a variable aperture, which allows it to let in more light at night, but narrow the depth of field in bright lighting for more consistent focus.
On the front, there's the same 18MP selfie camera found in the 2025 models. This camera uses a square sensor that enables landscape selfie photos while still holding the phone vertically, and face tracking when making video calls.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max also have a few camera-related software changes, including cinematic effects that can be added to videos after they've been shot, smart focus tracking for video, and pro controls that let you manually adjust settings like aperture, shutter speed, and white balance.

iPhone 18 Pro battery
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max both have larger batteries. The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 34 hours of video playback per charge, up from 31 last year. The iPhone 18 Pro Max lasts even longer, with up to 43 hours of video playback per charge, up from 37 on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
In our testing, the iPhone 18 Pro was able to get between six and seven hours of screen time per charge. That's a full day of moderate usage with a comfortable buffer. The iPhone 18 Pro Max lasted even longer, and was able to get between eight and ten hours of screen time per charge. That's enough for two days of moderate usage.
iPhone 18 Pro processor
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are powered by Apple's new A20 Pro chipset. Apple says the CPU is up to 20% faster when compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, and the GPU is up to 40% faster. When combined with the new "next-generation" vapour chamber, Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can deliver up to 40% better sustained performance when compared to last year's models.
iPhone 18 Pro eSIM
Australian models of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max take a physical SIM card and also have eSIM support.
eSIM (an electronic SIM or embedded SIM) is a rewritable SIM card that’s built directly into the phone. It never leaves your phone. Instead, you simply download a "software SIM" from your provider of choice.
iPhone 18 Pro 5G
The iPhone 18 Pro naturally has 5G connectivity. WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.

iPhone 18 Pro plan providers
Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are offering the iPhone 18 Pro on a plan. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.
Telstra iPhone 18 Pro plans
Telstra iPhone plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.
Telstra lets you pay your iPhone off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Telstra still has Australia's largest mobile network, covering over 2.14 million square kilometres. In addition, Telstra has a partnership with Starlink operator SpaceX, allowing you to send text messages and use select apps via satellite when mobile coverage is unavailable. A clear view of the sky is needed for this.
Telstra is the only telco in Australia to still have a rewards program. As a customer, you earn points for every dollar spent with Telstra, which can then be redeemed for discounts on new tech.
Optus iPhone 18 Pro plans
Optus iPhone plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
Vodafone iPhone 18 Pro plans
Vodafone iPhone plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.
If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.
Vodafone customers also save $5 per month if they bundle a second mobile plan on to their account, and then an extra $15 for each plan after.
Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.
Thanks to a network sharing agreement with Optus, Vodafone's network coverage is now practically identical to Optus' when it comes to 4G.
