OPPO today launched its second take on Android tablet in Australia, the OPPO Pad 2. While its first tablet - the Pad Air - was a sub-$400 budget affair, the OPPO Pad 2 is a much more premium product.
This is most evident in the screen. OPPO has kitted out the Pad 2 with an 11.6-inch display running a high 2800x2000 resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate. It can display over a billion colours, and supports Dolby Vision HDR.
What makes the display unique is its 7:5 aspect ratio, which makes it similar to an A4 piece of paper. Most Android tablets use a 16:10 aspect ratio which means they're better for landscape use. Conversely, the OPPO Pad 2 should work equally well in both landscape and portrait. For comparison, iPads typically have a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Other key specifications for the OPPO Pad 2 include a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, a 9,510mAh battery with fast charging, 256GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM.
The OPPO Pad 2 is available to order today directly through OPPO. It will set you back $699, making it almost half the price of the newly announced entry-level Galaxy Tab S9. A keyboard case will set you back $159, while an OPPO Pencil sells for $79.
