Stuck tossing up between internet providers? We get it - it’s a minefield out there. When it comes to broadband providers there are so many more than just Telstra, Optus, and TPG. Smaller internet providers are sometimes a better choice. They can be cheaper, faster, less complex, or maybe they offer something that the big ones don’t.
Either way, Superloop and Aussie Broadband are some big fish in the smaller pond. In this guide, we'll look at how their NBN plans stack up.
Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: NBN plans at a glance
To start, here's a look at how Superloop and Aussie Broadband NBN plans compare price-wise on each speed tier.
Aussie Broadband vs Superloop: Owners
Both Aussie Broadband and Superloop are independently owned internet service providers. Both are Australian companies and are publicly traded on the ASX.
Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Internet types available
Aussie Broadband
Aussie Broadband sells NBN plans on every single NBN speed tier. You can pick from NBN 12, NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 75, NBN 100/20, NBN 100/40, NBN 250, and NBN 1000.

Aussie Broadband also has SIM-only mobile broadband plans powered by the Optus network.
Superloop
Superloop doesn't have quite as many speed options as Aussie Broadband, but still has the major bases covered. You can pick from NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100/20, NBN 100/40, NBN 250/25, NBN 250/100, and NBN 1000.
Here are Superloop’s NBN plans with unlimited data.
Just note that you need to have FTTP or HFC NBN to be eligible for an NBN 250 or NBN 1000 plan.
Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Typical evening speeds
Typical evening speeds refer to the download speeds you can expect during peak usage times on the NBN - between 7pm and 11pm. The more people using the network, the less capacity is available which results in lower speeds.
Superloop and Aussie Broadband are among the fastest NBN providers around. Here's how they stack up against each other in terms of typical evening speeds on the NBN.
NBN 12 | NBN 25 | NBN 50 | NBN 100 | NBN 250 | NBN 1000 | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Superloop | - | 22Mbps | 48Mbps | 95Mbps | 240Mbps | 600Mbps |
Aussie Broadband | 12Mbps | 25Mbps | 50Mbps | 100Mbps | 250Mbps | 600Mbps |
Aussie Broadband is just a touch faster than Superloop on almost every speed tier, but tends to be more expensive. The one exception is NBN 1000 plans, where both providers promise typical evening speeds of 600Mbps. 600Mbps is currently the fastest advertised typical evening speed on any NBN 1000 plan in the market.
For comparison, here are the 10 fastest providers on NBN 100 plans.
Aussie Broadband vs. Superloop: Data limits
Aussie Broadband
All of Aussie Broadband’s popular NBN plans come with unlimited data, but if you want to reduce your monthly bill, you can opt for a 100GB or 500GB allowance on most plans.
Dropping down to a 500GB plan will save you $4 per month compared to the equivalent unlimited option, while dropping down to 100GB will save you $9 per month. In most cases, we'd say you'd want at least 500GB.
If you're looking at NBN 12, NBN 250, or NBN 1000, unlimited data is your only option.
Superloop
Every Superloop NBN plan has unlimited data.
