The Galaxy S25 family is now available! If you're looking at Samsung's 2025 phones, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the crown jewel. It has a curvier redesign, a larger screen with smaller bezels, a fast new processor, and still comes with the classic S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra plans
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is available on mobile plans from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. The three providers all offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Galaxy S25 Ultra faster, while a 36-month term results in a cheaper monthly bill.

If you're looking to pre-order a Galaxy S25 Ultra on a plan, there are a few telco deals worth considering.
Vodafone: If you buy your Galaxy S25 Ultra on a Vodafone plan, you'll save $350 on the price of the phone. This is divided across the length of your repayment, and would work out to be a discount of $9.72 per month on a 36-month term.
Vodafone is also currently running a double data deal on its mobile plans. This means you'll get 100GB instead of 50GB with Vodafone's cheapest Galaxy S25 Ultra plan. You'll also save $10 per month for the length of your phone repayment term.
Optus: If you pick up a Galaxy S25 Ultra on an Optus plan, you can save $250. This is divided across the length of your repayment, and works out to be a $6.94 discount on a 36-month term. If you take up Optus' $10 per month Watch plan, you'll get a 40mm Galaxy Watch 7 at no cost. This deal runs until April 6.
Telstra: If you buy the Galaxy S25 Ultra on a Telstra plan, you can save up to $400 on the price of the phone. You'll save $200 if you pre-order the 256GB or 512GB model, or $400 on the 1TB. This deal runs until March 10.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is a modest upgrade from a hardware perspective. The two main changes are the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a new 50MP ultra-wide lens. Instead, Samsung has focused on expanding the Galaxy AI feature set.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra AI
As with the entire Galaxy S25 family, the Galaxy S25 Ultra features Galaxy AI. Galaxy AI was first introduced last year with the Galaxy S24 series, but was also rolled out to older devices like the Galaxy S23 family.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra naturally gets existing Galaxy AI features - including live two-way translation, writing tools, summaries, and AI photo editing - but there's also new functionality. This includes:
- Proactive briefs at the start and end of each day, giving you information like weather, sleep data, and your calendar
- Call recording with automatic transcription
- The ability for the virtual assistant to complete multi-step tasks with one command. Samsung gave the example of "find vegan pet-friendly restaurants, and then send the list to Dave")
- Natural language search in the Samsung Gallery app and the Settings app
- Improvements to Circle to Search that let it identify audio playing, in addition to what's on the screen
- An audio eraser for removing unwanted noise in videos
Some Galaxy AI features, such as photo editing, require an internet connection. Others, such as live translate, are done entirely on the phone.
Some of the new Galaxy AI features will eventually become available on older devices like the Galaxy S24. The Galaxy S25 family will be able to execute AI tasks faster, however.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra design
The Galaxy S25 family all look pretty similar to last year's models, with some minor changes. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus are dead ringers for their predecessors, still featuring a 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch display, respectively. Both are a little bit lighter, however.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a slightly larger 6.9-inch display, up from 6.8-inch on the Galaxy S24 Ultra last year. Samsung has also shrunk the bezel surrounding the screen, and reduced the weight. While the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a boxy design, Samsung has made the Galaxy S25 Ultra bit curvier, bringing it line with the rest of the family. It still comes with an integrated S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra camera
The main camera upgrade on the Galaxy S25 Ultra is a new higher resolution 50MP ultra-wide lens, replacing the 12MP seen on last year's model. This is joined by a 200MP primary lens, 10MP 3x zoom lens, 50MP 5x zoom lens, and 12MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra battery
The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery, just like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In our testing, we were comfortably able to achieve at least six hours of screen time per charge. That's more than enough for a full day of moderate usage with a solid buffer at the end of the day.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra processor
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The variant found in the phone is specifically optimised for Samsung devices. Samsung says the Snapdragon 8 Elite offers 37% faster processing than the Galaxy S24 Ultra and 30% faster graphics.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 5G
The Galaxy S25 Ultra naturally has 5G connectivity, but variants sold in Australia don't support mmWave 5G. mmWave is a faster type of 5G that telcos have slowly been rolling out, but very few devices support it locally.
WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G and 3G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra plan providers
Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are all ranging the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.
Telstra Galaxy S25 Ultra plans
Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.
Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Optus Galaxy S25 Ultra plans
Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
Vodafone Galaxy S25 Ultra plans
Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.
If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.
Vodafone customers also save 5% on their total mobile bill for each postpaid mobile plan on their account after the first. This discount maxes out at 20% and doesn't include handset repayments.
Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.
How to choose the best Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra plan for you
There are a few key factors to keep in mind when picking a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra plan:
- Answering "how much mobile data do I use" can help you avoid overspending. Don't pay for more data than you need
- Decide whether you want to pay off your phone shorter on a 24-month plan or get a smaller bill over a longer period of time on a 36-month plan
- If you're a frequent overseas traveller consider any international roaming inclusions
- You may also want to make international phone calls so check if the destinations you may be calling are included in your plan
