Lately my internet has been dodgy to say the least. I’ve spent many an hour over the last few weeks battling with my NBN provider while staring at Chrome’s dreaded “you are offline” page.
That little dinosaur mocking me.
“Who’s extinct now?” it seems to cry.
But wait, what’s this I remember? Could it be? Yes! One tap of the space bar and I’m transported back to my year 7 computer room as the T-Rex runs across the desert, leaping cacti and dodging pterodactyls.
The one upside of having no internet is suddenly having a lot of time to play T-Rex Run, AKA the Chrome dinosaur game. But, rather than being stuck in the prehistoric age before the internet, you can harness the infinite power of your WiFi and continue to play the No Internet Game, with a stable internet connection.
There’s plenty of places online where you can find a version of T-Rex Run (albeit under slightly varying names). Chrome even has an extension now with night mode, and the ability to pause.
However for the most authentic experience, without needing to log out of your Slack we recommend playing on the site elgoog.im.
The site has both the original and the updated version of the game, and even a Bot which will just play for you. Although it’s counter intuitive, it’s soothing to watch the little guy make the jumps himself.
Some people meditate, others do yoga, I - apparently - watch a grayscale T-Rex bound through the desert.
If you're not a desktop person, or you'd prefer to play on the go then you can also download the app for Android and iOS.
