Dodo will launch an "Autopilot" feature that will make proactive plan decisions for NBN customers later this year. The telco says Autopilot is designed to help customers ensure their NBN plan is aligned with their actual household needs, and make suggestions like downgrading speed tiers if a customer's usage doesn't it.
"Through Autopilot, Dodo will continue looking for opportunities to help ensure customers are on plans that suit their needs and provide good value," a Dodo spokesperson told WhistleOut.
Dodo is already testing the technology and says it helped almost 100,000 customers "rightsize" their plan. The telco says it looked at peak-hour usage, focusing on customers with low utilisation "who rarely reached the full capacity of their plan". Dodo says these customers saved $12 per month by downgrading.
In research comissioned by Dodo, it found that 53% of Australians don't know what internet speed they're paying for, 47% aren't confident in the difference between NBN 25 and NBN 100, and 25% believe they're paying "for more internet than they need". 1,012 Australians over 18 were surveyed for the research.
Dodo has yet to provide a firm timeline on when it will formally launch Autopilot.
