To celebrate love everlasting, Boost Mobile has slashed the price on one of its 365-day long-expiry plans.
Boost is taking $45 off its $300 recharge until February 24. This brings the price down to $255 for the first recharge and the plan comes with 265GB of data.
Broken down into an equivalent monthly price you're looking at paying $21.25 per month for around 22GB of data. As a value per GB cost with Boost's deal you're paying $0.97 per GB of data.
Here's a look at Boost Mobile's long-expiry plans:
Boost Mobile, which is now owned by Telstra, is the only telco on the Telstra network that gets full coverage, reaching 99.7% of the population – the other telcos reach 98.8% of Australians.
Its plans come with unlimited calls and texts, unlimited international calls to 20 selected destinations and mobile download speeds capped to 150Mbps.
Generally, paying under $1 per GB is a pretty good deal but there are plenty of competitive long-expiry prepaid plan deals that give Boost's offer a run for its money.
Here's a look at other long-expiry prepaid plans (with at least 250GB of data) in WhistleOut's database:
Let's compare a couple of these offers (breaking them down into a monthly cost as we did with Boost's).
Kogan's Large 365-day prepaid plan works out to be $14.08 per month for 25GB of data, or $0.56 per GB of data.
Lebara's Medium plan comes out to $14.8 per month for 21.6GB of data, or $0.69 per GB of data.
Kogan's plan has no speed cap while like Boost's, Lebara has a download speed cap of 150Mbps. It is worth noting both operate on the Vodafone network, however.
The Vodafone network has recently been upgraded thanks to an agreement with Optus and now covers 98.4% of the population but it's still the smallest network provider.
If you want Telstra coverage and to save with a long-expiry plan then Boost's offer could be worth it. If you're just looking for the cheapest price, other telcos have better deals.
