As part of its previously-announced inquiry into mobile service markets, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is now seeking views from both Australian consumers and businesses as it mulls over the matter.
“We want to hear from a wide range of consumers and organisations about their experiences of mobile coverage, service quality and choice,” ACCC Commissioner Anna Brakey said.
“Whether you rely on mobile connectivity to run a business, work remotely or stay connected with family and friends, your experience can help us understand how well the market is working.”
According to Brakey, the ACCC is aware of long-standing concerns about pricing, coverage, competition and service quality in regional and remote areas and now wants to better understand those experiences.
Specifically, the competition watchdog wants to know more about which factors matter most when choosing a mobile service provider, why and when consumers switch providers, and what they experience when it comes to everyday connectivity.
“We are also seeking industry views on a range of competition, investment and regulatory issues relevant to the inquiry,” she said.
If you’ve got a few things to get off your chest about the state of Australia’s telecommunications sector, you can make your voice heard via either an online survey or by filing a formal response to the discussion paper the ACCC released earlier this week.
The ACCC will be taking submissions until November 26 and survey responses until December 10.
