
amaysim has acquired Optus MVNO Circles.Life's Australian customer base, said to consist of over 150,000 subscribers.
This means all of Circles.Life's local customers will be moved over to amaysim in the coming months, and Circles.Life will eventually cease to operate as a mobile brand in Australia. An amaysim spokesperson told WhistleOut that Circles.Life will however continue to accept new sign-ups for the coming months.
The spokesperson also WhistleOut that amaysim has not yet decided whether Circles.Life customers will keep their current mobile plans and inclusions when moved over, or whether they'll be moved to an in-market amaysim plan.
"That is still being worked through as there are a large number of Circles plans, including legacy plans," said the spokesperson.

Nothing is changing in the short term, however. All Circles.Life customers should be notified about the acquisition today.
When amaysim begins to migrate Circles.Life customers, no action from customers should be needed. This process will happen automatically, and coverage will be identical, since both are on the Optus network.
It's unclear what will happen in terms of billing. amaysim's plans are billed upfront on a prepaid basis, while Circles' are postpaid. Circles.Life customers will receive a final bill from Circles before being moved over to amaysim.
In a statement, amaysim Vice President Vir Nath said that Circles.Life customers will get access to features like 5G and unlimited data banking when moved over. Circles' mobile plans are currently 4G only, and only allow up to 500GB of data banking.
amaysim's acquisition of Circles.Life's customer base follows a clear trend of consolidation in the mobile space over the recent. amaysim was acquire by Optus in 2021, and prior to that, amaysim had snapped up a number of smaller mobile providers including Vaya, OVO, and Jenee Mobile.
Looking more broadly, Telstra announced it was acquiring its MVNO partner Boost Mobile at the end of last year. This makes Boost Mobile Telstra's second in-house brand, alongside Belong.
On the Vodafone network, there are is only a small number of independent providers. These include Kogan Mobile and LycaMobile. Other mobile providers including TPG, iiNet, Lebara, and felix are all owned by the TPG Telecom group.
