As all my lockdown purchases sit, mostly unused in storage I am finding myself saying those magic words to close off the year:
“That's it, I'm going to save more in 2022.”
I doubt that I'm alone. The end of the year is as much about planning for the new one as it is for reminiscing about the one just passed. If saving money is on your 2022 To-Do list, then cutting down on household bills is a great place to start.
Kogan Mobile has a range of 365-day expiry prepaid plans, and right now they’re all discounted and have bonus data so that you can cross "phone bill" off your budget for next year. For as little as $120, you can pay for your whole 2022 phone bill before the year even starts.
Here are all the 365-day expiry deals at a glance.
Price | Discounted price | Data allowance
Small 365 plan | $120 | 130GB | Go to site
Medium 365 plan | $175 | 200GB | Go to site
Large 365 plan | $270 | 250GB | Go to site
Extra Large 365 plan | $300 | 500GB | Go to site |
If you’ve never used a long expiry prepaid plan it can be hard to contextualise all the big numbers. Basically, you'll pay for a big chunk of data upfront, and have 365 days to use it. As it takes into account the whole year the numbers can look high, but here are how these plans look from a monthly view.
Monthly price | Monthly data allowance
Small 365 plan | $10 | 11GB | Go to site |
Medium 365 plan | $14.50 | 16GB | Go to site |
Large 365 plan | $22.50 | 21GB | Go to site |
Extra Large 365 plan | $25 | 41GB | Go to site |
Pretty much every single one of these deals are on the better value side of things when you exclude promotional discounts. $10 per month normally gets you around 5GB, $15 per month gets closer to 8GB, $20 buys 12GB to 15GB, and $25 plans usually yield about 20GB. In saying that, there are timed discounts that will give you much higher allowances for a shorter period of time before hiking the price back up.
The downside to long expiry plans is that, if you’re not careful you can blast through your whole allowance in a much shorter period of time. With Kogan however, you can decide if you want your whole chunk of data at once or if you want the provider to divvy it out to you monthly. For those of us who aren't great at budgeting, this could be a good option that takes the power to binge your data out of your hands.
Kogan isn’t the only provider that offers long-expiry plans, but it is the only one that will split up the data for you. Here is how Kogan’s deals compare to other 365-day prepaid plans on the market right now.
Kogan Mobile is powered by the Vodafone network and gives you access to the provider’s 3G and 4G networks within Australia. Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn points based on dollars spent on Kogan Mobile.
