Customers connected to TPG's Fibre to the Basement (FTTB) network can now order plans as fast as 500Mbps, thanks to recent upgrades. This means the maximum speed attainable on TPG FTTB is now five times faster than what's capable on the FTTB portion of the NBN.
TPG's FTTB network covers around 400,000 premises. These are typically apartment blocks in metro areas. In some cases, apartments connected to the NBN via FTTB may also have TPG FTTB as an option. There's an address check tool on TPG's website.
TPG's FTTB plans are unsurprisingly cheaper than what it charges for its NBN plans. Prices start at $59.99 per month for a 50Mbps plan (for the first year months), while the 500Mbps plan sells for $69.99 per month (for the first year). You'll pay $89.99 per month for the 500Mbps plan after the intro discount runs out, but that's still cheaper than many NBN 100 plans.
Here's how TPG's FTTB and NBN plans compare:
All TPG FTTB plans have a $99 setup fee, but this is waived if you commit to a six-month contract.
TPG's 500Mbps plans are available to all 400,000 premises.
While NBN Co has been upgrading FTTN, FTTC, and Fixed Wireless portions of the network, it currently has no plans for the FTTB portion. This means NBN FTTB customers are limited to NBN 100 plans as a maximum.
These are the most popular NBN 50 plans with WhistleOut users this week:
