TPG and iiNet cut prices on fastest internet plans

Sibling telcos TPG and iiNet have adjusted plan pricing in line with new NBN wholesale pricing that was introduced at the end of last year.

Broadly the changes have seen prices on NBN 12, NBN 25 and NBN 50 plans go up by $5 per month. While the faster NBN speed tiers 100, 250 and 1000 have gotten cheaper or stayed the same price.

Only customers with FTTP or HFC connection types will be able to access the NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans.

Here's how much TPG's plans cost before the changes:

TPG NBN price changes

Plan	Old pricing	New pricing
NBN 12	$64.99 per month + the first month free	$69.99 per month + the first month free
NBN 25	$69.99 per month + the first month free	$74.99 per month + the first month free
NBN 50	$74.99 per month + the first month free	$79.99 per month + the first month free
NBN 100	$89.99 per month, $10 off for the first 6 months + first month free	No change
NBN 250	$124.99 per month, $30 off for the first 6 months + first month free	$94.99 per month + the first month free
NBN 1000	$144.99 per month, $30 off for the first 6 months + first month free	$104.99 per month + the first month free

The biggest savings are found on TPG's NBN 1000 plan where customers can now save $40 per month, ongoing. Its NBN 250 plan is $30 cheaper than it was before with a permanent discount.

Its NBN 50 plan increasing by $5 per month means that it's now the same price as TPG's discounted NBN 100 plan.

It's a similar story with iiNet, which is owned by TPG. Here's what changed:

iiNet NBN price changes

Plan	Old pricing	New pricing
NBN 12	$64.99 per month	$69.99 per month
NBN 25	$74.99 per month, $10 off for the first 6 months	No change
NBN 50	$79.99 per month, $10 off for the first 6 months	No change
NBN 100	$89.99 per month	No change
NBN 250	$129.99 per month	$99.99 per month
NBN 1000	$149.99 per month	$109.99 per month

iiNet's NBN 12 plan went up in price and costs the same as a discounted NBN 50 plan. The NBN 25, NBN 50, and NBN 100 plans remain as they were. But the NBN 250 and 1000 plans become cheaper by $30 and $40 respectively.

Cheap NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans

While the changes have certainly made TPG and iiNet's faster NBN plans cheaper, they're not the cheapest available in our database.
