Apple today announced its first over-ear Beats since 2023: the Beats 360. On top of the requisite audio and noise-cancelling updates, the pair are sweat-resistant, which is an unusual feature for over-ear headphones.
The Beats 360 have an IPX4 rating, which means they're resistant to splashes and sweat. That's the minimum IP rating one would want for workout headphones. Similarly, the Beats 360's out of the box cushions, dubbed Performance Knit cushions, have been redesigned for breathability.
Users can swap out the Beats 360's cushions and headband, with six colour options available in the Performance Knit. Apple will also sell "UltraPlush" cushions which are more in line with what was used on past over-ear models, like the Beats Studio Pro.
As with most Beats headphones, the Beats 360 are designed to work with both iPhone and Android. While they don't feature the H1 or H2 chips featured in AirPods and select other Beats earbuds, they still have seamless pairing across any Apple device connected to the same iCloud account, Find My support, and Hey Siri. They also support personalised spatial audio.
On the Android front, the Beats 360 support Google Fast Pair, Find My Device, seamless audio switching, and there's even a Beats app.
Apple says the Beats 360 will last for up to 32 hours per charge with noise-cancelling on, and a five-minute charge offers up to one hour of playback.
The Beats 360 are available to order from Apple today, retailing for $499.95, ahead of a release date tomorrow. They come in four colours: black, cloud, pink, and sky. Additional cushions will sell for $14.95 as an introductory offer, but will increase to $79.95 after October 31.
