Telstra's budget brand Belong will also increase its mobile plan prices from May 5, following the lead of its parent company. Belong's SIM-only plans will increase by $4 per month, while its mobile broadband plans will increase by as much as $10 per month.
By and large, Belong isn't changing the data allowances on its plans. The one exception is its $70 mobile broadband plan, which currently has 400GB. Not only will this go up to $80 per month, the data allowance will decrease to 250GB.
Here is how Belong's SIM-only plans are changing:
| Old Pricing | New Pricing |
|---|---|
| $30 per month for 25GB | $34 per month for 25GB |
| $35 per month for 40GB | $39 per month for 40GB |
| $45 per month for 100GB | $45 per month for 100GB |
| $55 per month for 160GB | $59 per month for 160GB |
And here is how Belong's mobile broadband plans are changing:
| Old Pricing | New Pricing |
|---|---|
| $15 per month for 20GB | $20 per month for 20GB |
| $35 per month for 100GB | $40 per month for 100GB |
| $70 per month for 400GB | $80 per month for 250GB |
Belong says it is increasing prices to help "invest in customer experiences, security, and customer support". These price increases will affect both new and existing customers.
While Belong's SIM-only mobile plans are still naturally cheaper than Telstra proper, the changes mean it will edge into more expensive territory for smaller providers. Compare popular plans across a few price points below:
