OPPO to reveal Find N5 foldable on February 20

OPPO will reveal its next flagship foldable phone - the Find N5 - during a launch scheduled for 9pm AEDT on February 20.

While there's still over a week to go, the manufacturer has steadily been teasing its upcoming device over the last month and a bit, and has even published full images of the phone, such as the one below.

The key point of difference is the Find N5's thinness. In a photo where it appears to be next to an iPhone 16 Pro, the Find N5 appears to be roughly half as thick when unfolded. OPPO Chief Product Officer Pete Lau has also boasted about the lack of a display crease a post on Twitter.

OPPO has also confirmed the Find N5 will have an IPX9 rating for water resistance, which means it can survive submersion and high-pressure jets. IPX9 is a pretty unusual water-resistance rating, but OPPO also used it on its Find X8 Pro at the end of last year. A proper IP rating is also a boon for OPPO's foldable; the lack of water resistance was one of the key omissions on 2023's Find N3.

WhistleOut reached out to OPPO Australia to ask about local plans for the Find N5, but the company declined to comment. The Find N3 was the first tablet-style foldable OPPO launched in Australia, but only a small amount of stock was brought into the country with the phone quickly selling out. (There is no Find N4, due to the the number four's connotations with death in China.)

Leaks suggest the Find N5 will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 16GB of RAM, three 50MP cameras, and a 5,700mAh battery. If the battery rumour is true, the Find N5 would have the largest capacity cell we've seen in a foldable so far.

Price - assuming the Find N5 makes it to Australia - is still a big unknown. In 2024, OPPO's Find N3 launched retailing for $2,699. When it comes to comparable devices, a 256GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 retails for $2,749, while a 256GB Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a $2,699 asking price.
