Phone owners with friends and family overseas will appreciate changes made to a couple of Amaysim’s Unlimited plans this week.
From now, anyone choosing an Unlimited 5GB or Unlimited 7GB plan will also receive 100 calling minutes to contact loved-ones in 32 select locations.
The 5GB and 7GB plans cost $44.90 and $54.90 per month, respectively.
The lucky countries included are: Austria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam.
Calls to other destinations, or beyond the included 100 minutes, attract Amaysim’s standard (and reasonably priced) overseas calling rates.
The battle for your overseas calls
This is an interesting move for Amaysim to make, but not entirely unsurprising. Several other providers moved to include international calling in plans in the past 18-months, with majors Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile now offering generous international calling inclusions in most phone and BYO phone plans.
By comparison, Amaysim’s 100 minutes is good, but not an overly attractive proposition given that telcos like Lebara Mobile and Vodafone have plans with unlimited internationals calls to various countries and similar monthly price tags.
Of course, this probably isn’t the last we’ll hear from Amaysim on this subject. The telco does have a history of cautiously introducing new plans concepts and then expanding them later, probably after feedback from its enthusiastic community of customers.
