Telstra today kick off a big Christmas promo with massive bonus data inclusions, but there is a few caveats to keep in mind.
The promo plans are for BYO phone customers and include 7GB of data for $40 per moth, and 9GB for $50, plus generous calling and messaging. Both prices are a $10 discount off the standard monthly rate for these plans, and the plans include 4.5GB and 2GB bonus data respectively.
You read that right, a bonus 4.5GB of data on the Telstra 4G network. The promo runs from now until Christmas Day (25 December 2015).
There is a catch, or two. You must be a new customer to be eligible for the discounted plans, you must be switching to Telstra from a different provider, you have to buy the plan online and you’ll need to bring your own phone. Plus, you need to sign up for 12-months.
If a long term contract isn’t your preference, there are other month-to-month Telstra SIM plans, but you will pay more and receive less data each month.
Even with the various restrictions, this is a pretty special offer from Telstra. Few providers have ever offered 4.5GB of bonus data, especially not Australia’s most popular telco. When you consider the price and included value, this is a plan to rival all of Telstra’s competitors, big and small, even if it is for a limited time only.
