Yellowstone franchise

Prefer WhistleOut in Google

Yellowstone was the modern-day Western drama we all didn't know we needed to escape the rat-race of suburban living. But even with the series ending in 2024, there's no need to suffer withdrawals.

Several spin-offs, including prequels and sequels, have been released since the series took off which will satisfy your ranch-flavoured cravings. Here’s everything currently released on streaming or in pre-production from the Yellowstone franchise.

Yellowstone (2018-2024)

Yellowstone

The series that started it all, Yellowstone, centres around both the personal and professional dramas of the Dutton family ranch in Montana, USA. From battling land-grabbing developers and oil tyrants to the neighbouring Native American Reservation, there's no shortage of entertainment and drama.

The stunning scenery and intriguing storylines have successfully captivated audiences for six solid years while the Dutton family's rich history paved the way for two prequel series (so far). The loveable characters have also inspired two sequels, which have both been wildly successful.

Where can I watch Yellowstone?

Even though the spin-offs, sequels and prequels have ended up elsewhere, the originalYellowstone still calls Aussie streaming service Stan, home. All five seasons are available to stream now.

1883 (2021-2022)

1883, as you may have already guessed from the title, is set well before the events of Yellowstone. 1883 traces back to the post-Civil war generation of the Dutton family, making it more suited for fans of period drama Westerns as opposed to the more modern-style Western that Yellowstone offers.

Fans of the original series are shown just how the Yellowstone Ranch came to be, with familiar faces joining the cast including Sam Elliott (A Star is Born) and country singers Tim McGraw (The Blind Side) and Faith Hill (The Stepford Wives).

The first and only season of 1883 is available to watch on Paramount Plus.

1923 (2022-2025)

If you thought the cast was big for Yellowstone and 1883, Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren star as Jacob and Cara Dutton, respectively, in the second prequel Yellowstone series. To keep the family tree straight, Jacob is the older brother to 1883's James Dutton and he and his wife are the great Uncle and Aunt of Yellowstone's John Dutton.

This series is set in the early 20th century, an era historically known for facing the rise of Western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. So there are no shortage of challenges for the Duttons to face in this earlier generation.

1923 seasons one and two are available to watch on Paramount Plus. Don't pay full price. There are plenty of ways to save with deals on Paramount Plus subscriptions.

Marshals: A Yellowstone Story (2026-present)

This is the first Yellowstone sequel to follow the exploits of one of the Dutton children beyond the Yellowstone Ranch.

Kayce, the youngest son of John Dutton, puts his skills as both a rancher and ex-Navy SEAL to the ultimate test when he joins a U.S. Marshals team. Reuniting with an old SEAL teammate, the group are tasked with maintaining peace on the Broken Rock Reservation.

Marshals: A Yellowstone Story is currently still running and is available to watch on Paramount Plus.

Dutton Ranch (2026-present)

Princess Nymeria, Ten Thousand Ships

One of the most anticipated spin-off series from the Yellowstone franchise, Dutton Ranch follows power couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler after the events of the Yellowstone finale. The pair desperately fight to maintain their own 7,000-acre ranch in the wake of a wildfire that destroys their Montana ranch.

This modern-day Western is all about the drama and how the couple overcome obstacles like their ancestors before them, including raising Carter, a child that's not theirs, much like Jacob and Cara Dutton did before them in 1923.

Dutton Ranch is available to stream on Paramount Plus.

1944 (pre-production)

1944

Rumoured to be created by Taylor Sheridan (creator of Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923), this will be the third prequel series of the Yellowstone franchise.

There's not much to know about this one just yet, including cast and plot. All we do know is this Western drama was mentioned alongside another 1960s prequel idea in an article back in 2022. But keep checking back as we get more information.

6666 (pre-production)

6666

No, this one is not set in a future with robotic horses with a Westworld angle. Instead of being named after a year, 6666 symbolises the bold task of raising not only the most prestigious horses and livestock in the world but also creating a place where internationally recognised cowboys are created.

This series aims to shine a light on what it truly takes for a West Texas ranch to produce the very best of the best. Again, there's not much to know about this one just yet but keep checking back as we get more information.
