TPG is no longer accepting new customers for its Internode and Westnet brands, and plans to ultimately phase both out. All existing customers will be moved to iiNet in early 2024. Customers will be given at least 30 days notice. This will impact both NBN and mobile customers.
TPG says the decision to shutter Internode and Westnet was made to "to simplify our products and platforms and allow us to focus our resources on delivering services to our existing customers".
In the short term, nothing changes for existing Internode and Westnet customers. Customers of either brand can still change plans, add new services, move house, and update account details. Notably, customers on a Westnet NBN Seniors plan will continue to pay the same price when they are moved to iiNet.
A TPG spokesperson said the migration won't disrupt current services.
"It simply means a customer’s plan, the price they pay, and the great customer service they have always received, will now be delivered under the iiNet brand," said the spokesperson.
"We thank our Westnet and Internode customers for their trust and support over the years, and we look forward to serving them under the iiNet brand in the future."
Internode co-founder Simon Hackett (who sold the company to iiNet in 2011), tweeted that today was "the end of an era".
"Well over a decade since I had a link with the company I started, but still a sad day for me," said Hackett. "Vale Internode. Forever proud of all the team."
"Thank you to everyone who kept doing the good things for so very long."
