iiNet is cutting the price of its Fibre to the Basement (FTTB) plans by up to 55% for the first six months, including its FTTB Max plan, which delivers speeds up to 500Mbps.
This brings the monthly price of all its FTTB plans down to $39.99 per month for the first six months and makes the plans cheaper than any of iiNet's own NBN plans.
Here's how iiNet's FTTB and NBN plans compare:
This iiNet offer is available until withdrawn.
If iiNet's FTTB is an option for your household, it's a good option to save money. For example, at the moment, the cheapest NBN 50 plan available in WhistleOut's database is from Tangerine. It costs $59.90 for the first six months before it reverts to the ongoing monthly price of $82.90 per month.
If you signed up for iiNet's FTTB 50 plan, you'll pay $39.99 per month for the first six months, then $69.99 per month ongoing. Compared to Tangerine's NBN 50 pla,n you'd save $186.92 over the course of 12 months (iiNet does charge an upfront $10 delivery fee for the FTTB modem which we've factored in).
It's also great value if you're after a high-speed internet plan. For example, iiNet's FTTB Max plan costs $39.99 per month for the first six months, then $89.99 per month ongoing. It has typical evening speeds up to 500Mbps. The cheapest NBN 1000 plans, which currently range between 700 and 900Mbps in terms of speed, start at $90 per month.
NBN customers who want faster than NBN 100 speeds, such as NBN 250 or NBN 1000, need to be at an address with an FTTP or HFC connection type.
iiNet's FTTB plans are supplied over TPG's Vision Network (TPG owns iiNet). Unlike the NBN, the Vision Network isn't available everywhere in Australia.
It's only available to around 280,000 FTTB premises, mostly made of apartments in metropolitan areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
You can confirm the availability of plans at your premises by using the address checker on iiNet's website.
TPG is in the process of selling its Vision Network to Vocus Group (which owns consumer brands Dodo and iPrimus). WhistleOut has confirmed that the sale of the Vision Network does not include the customer base, therefore, it will not directly affect iiNet customers on FTTB plans.
