Telstra will increase the price of its cheapest NBN plans from July 1, off the back of NBN Co's upcoming wholesale price changes. As part of the changes, Telstra's NBN 12, NBN 25, and NBN 50 plans will go up by between $4 and $5 per month.
Telstra is keeping pricing the same for its NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000 plans, however.
Here's how pricing looks for Telstra's NBN plans that come bundled with its Smart Modem 4:
| Speed Tier | Old Pricing | New Pricing |
|---|---|---|
| NBN 12 | $65 per month | $70 per month |
| NBN 25 | $93 per month | $97 per month |
| NBN 50 | $109 per month | $113 per month |
| NBN 100 | $113 per month | $113 per month |
| NBN 500 | $113 per month | $113 per month |
| NBN 750 | $129 per month | $129 per month |
| NBN 1000 | $139 per month | $139 per month |
And here's how pricing is changing for Telstra's modem-free "internet-only" NBN plans:
| Speed Tier | Old Pricing | New Pricing |
|---|---|---|
| NBN 25 | $85 per month | $89 per month |
| NBN 50 | $95 per month | $99 per month |
| NBN 100 | $99 per month | $99 per month |
| NBN 500 | $99 per month | $99 per month |
| NBN 250 | $119 per month | $119 per month |
| NBN 1000 | $129 per month | $129 per month |
These pricing changes will apply to new and existing Telstra customers. Customers on a current Telstra NBN plan will be charged the new amount from their first bill in July.
Notably, Telstra's pricing changes mean its NBN 50 plans will cost the same as its NBN 100 and NBN 500 plans. As such, there is no reason for any Telstra customer on an NBN 50 plan to not upgrade to NBN 100 or NBN 500. Most customers on FTTN or FTTC technology types should be eligible for a free upgrade to FTTP.
Telstra is the first provider to announce price increases based on the changes to NBN wholesale costs that kick in on July 1.
While NBN prices may be getting more expensive, many providers are still offering honeymoon discounts: savings for new customers that tend to last between six months and a year. Most NBN plans are contract-free, so jumping between these discounted plans is the best way to lower your NBN bill

We'll continue to see more NBN providers detail their price increases as July 1 approaches.
In addition to NBN price rises, Telstra is also increasing the price of its most expensive 5G home internet plan to $95 per month, up from $85 per month. This will also kick in on July 1, and marks the first time Telstra has increased 5G home internet prices. The announcement follows Telstra introducing two slower, cheaper 5G home internet plans.
