- Cheap introductory deals
- Affordable ongoing costs
- Fast internet

Dodo positions itself as a budget option, but this NBN provider also offers great speeds, though sadly doesn't offer NBN 1000 plans. It often does well in our monthly roundup of the best NBN plans, is among the most popular plans with WhistleOut visitors each week, and even offers bundle discounts for its energy and gas customers.
And while much of Dodo's attractive pricing comes from its generous introductory discounts, usually ranging from six months to a year, its ongoing costs are still competitive. But, because there's no lock-in contract, you can always switch away with no dramas if you decide to chase a different bargain once the intro deal period ends.
Unfortunately, there's not much publicly available data regarding customer satisfaction, so this is one aspect of Dodo's offering that is difficult to judge.
Dodo's plans and pricing
Dodo's NBN plans have quite a bit going for them, particularly when it comes to pricing. Here's a quick overview of Dodo's fees and charging practices:
- No connection charge (for standard connections)
- No early cancellation fees
- Generous introductory discounts
- Competitive ongoing costs
- Bundle gas and energy to save $10 per month (for some customers)
One of Dodo's biggest drawcards is its introductory discounts. These intro deals are for new customers only, and usually last between six and 12 months. After this, the ongoing cost is still among the lowest in our database, but given there are no lock-in contracts, you can switch to another provider and grab a different intro discount to save even more.
The only exception is if you add an NBN modem to your monthly bill, which you pay off over 12 months. Leaving within that time requires you to pay out your remaining modem fees.
Dodo doesn't have connection fees for standard connections, but NBN Co can charge in special situations such as first-time connections in new developments. In these cases, Dodo will inform you and add the charge to your monthly bill.
Dodo's energy and gas customers in NSW and Victoria can receive a further $10 per month if they bundle the NBN plan. Queenslanders can get $5 off for bundling energy. We don't compare energy and gas, so you'll need to do your own research to find out if this works out better for you overall.
Here's a look at Dodo's fixed-line NBN plans, ranked by introductory price:
For comparison here are some other NBN plans in our database, ranked by introductory cost for the first six months:
Internet speed
Dodo is one of the fastest NBN providers around, reporting high Typical Evening Speeds and scoring well in the ACCC's quarterly performance reports.
ACCC results
In the ACCC's performance report from December 2024, Dodo scored an excellent 102.4% for average peak hour download performance, and 103% for overall download speed. While it didn't take first place, these figures indicate Dodo's NBN services over-perform in terms of downloads.
For upload speeds, it didn't fare as well, scoring 88.9% and 89.1%, respectively. The highest scores came from Exetel, with 90.9% and 91.2%.
Typical Evening Speeds
Dodo currently reports the maximum possible Typical Evening Speeds for downloads on each of its NBN plans, which include NBN 15, NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, and NBN 250. The telco doesn't offer NBN 100/40 or NBN 1000 plans.
Its reported upload speeds are less impressive, but still not far off the maximum.
Plan features
Dodo doesn't include many bells and whistles, which is one of the reasons it can offer some of the cheapest internet plans in our database, while still delivering great download speeds.
Mobile and internet bundling
Dodo customers in NSW and Victoria who bundle electricity and gas with NBN will receive a $10 discount per month off their NBN bill. Queenslanders can receive $5 for bundling electricity.
CGNAT opt-out
Dodo offers CGNAT opt out for free. This plan feature is only useful for a handful of customers who need a static IP address. Dodo isn't the only provider who does this, but it's not universal and not always free of charge.
WhistleOut Awards
Dodo won our latest WhistleOut Internet Award for Best Premium NBN Provider, making it a two-time winner. The telco is making some big strides in NBN provision, offering consumers great value and speeds. If you're looking for a competitive, fast NBN provider, Dodo's low-cost, no-frills plans are great options.
Dodo also came runner-up for the Best NBN Fixed Wireless Provider category, behind Tangerine.
Customer service
Customer service and satisfaction are always difficult to gauge. For Dodo, we've looked at results from TIO complaints, CHOICE, and Product Review. The picture painted by these three sources shows a provider with average customer satisfaction, though its TIO complaints are on the rise.
Dodo's customer service channels:
- Phone: 13 36 36 (7 days, 9am to 6pm)
- Online chat: dodo.com/contact-us (7 days, 9am to 6pm)
- Online My Dodo user account: auth.dodo.com/login

WhistleOut customer satisfaction survey
Score: 4.28/5
In an internet provider customer satisfaction survey run by WhistleOut, Dodo scored 4.28 out of 5. Participants rated Dodo 4.16 for speed, 4.06 for reliability, 3.72 for price, and 3.79 for customer service. 28% of the Dodo customers surveyed would strongly recommend the brand.

TIO complaints
Increased vs. last year
TIO complaints can be a handy measure of whether a telco's customer satisfaction is increasing or decreasing each year, but comes with a caveat. The TIO doesn't take market share into account, and so if a telco gets more customers between one year and the next, an increase in the number of complaints is to be expected, simply because it has more active services.
That said, Dodo's complaints increased from 577 in the 2023 report to 816 in 2024. This is a 41% increase, which would require a massive expansion in customer base to be explained away by an increase in market share.

CHOICE Telco Satisfaction rating
Score: 75% (middle of the pack)
Every two years, consumer advocacy organisation CHOICE performs a telco customer satisfaction survey. In the latest results, Dodo scored 75% for overall customer satisfaction vs. the average score of 74%.
Interestingly, the brand scored a bang-on-average 73% for connection speed, despite its stellar ACCC broadband measurement results and excellent reported Typical Evening Speeds. Other scores included 76% for value for money (76% average) and 74% for reliable connection (75%).

Product Review star rating
Score: 3.2 stars
Product Review is a popular website that uses star ratings and written reviews from confirmed customers.
As with many customer reviews, results can be skewed by human nature – just think about how likely you are to bother reviewing a good product vs. one that's frustrating you. But because this is the case across the whole website, it's still be useful to compare similar products or brands against each other – just make don't make judgements based on any one score in isolation.
Dodo has a rating of 3.2 stars from more than 3,500 reviews. This puts Dodo in the middle of the pack when it comes to other popular NBN providers, and significantly above some of the biggest names like Telstra (1.2 stars), Optus (1.5 stars), and TPG (1.9 stars). But there are other internet providers that score very well in comparison, such as Swoop (4.7 stars), Aussie Broadband (4.5 stars), and SpinTel (4.4 stars).
