Down, down - phone plan prices are going down now that supermarkets are in the business.  Coles, Woolworths (now offering plans under the Everyday Mobile brand), and ALDI all sell mobile phone services. But comparing their offers can be like comparing ALDI chalk to Woolies cheese. Who's got the best value? Take a look at how their plans compare.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: Data inclusions

Coles vs Everyday vs ALDI Mobile: Best phone plans - mobile phone in supermarket aisle

Unlimited calls and texts are the norm these days. This means data inclusions are one of the biggest differentiating factors when it comes to choosing a new mobile phone plan.

Plus, phones today are our all-in-one entertainment hub. Between mobile gaming, social media, streaming music, videos and podcasts it’s easy to use plenty of gigabytes.

None of these telcos offer unlimited mobile data either.

For comparison, here are each telco's cheapest 28-30 day expiry plans with at least 20GB of data:

Here’s how Everyday Mobile, Coles and ALDI Mobile compare in terms of data inclusions at the time of writing.

Everyday Mobile

Everyday Mobile has the widest selection of plans of the three, with SIM-only plans, prepaid plans and long expiry plans. Its 5G SIM-only plans have data from 70GB up to 165GB.  Its prepaid plans have a smaller data range between 22GB and 50GB. In terms of long expiry plans Everyday's options are between 75GB and 300GB data.

Everyday Mobile also lets you share your plan data with other customers. You can gift up to 50% of your plan's included data to another person with an Everyday Mobile account. This doesn't include any bonus data or data add-ons.

There's also data banking, which we'll explain later.

Cheap mobile phone plans in Australia

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: Coverage

Before selecting a plan, it’s worth knowing if your new provider will actually have coverage where you need it. Each of the supermarket brands are Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), meaning that they use one of the three mobile networks across Australia and sell on their access to consumers.

Both Everyday Mobile and ALDI Mobile use Telstra’s wholesale network, while Coles operates on Optus’.

What's the difference? Telstra's wholesale network that Everyday and ALDI use covers 98.8% of the Australian population. This means most customers across the country will get coverage, excluding some rural and regional dwellers.

On the other hand, Optus' 3G and 4G network covers slightly fewer people at 98.5%.

Read our guide to learn more about how network coverage compares.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: 5G connectivity

While each of the big three telcos is in the process of rolling out their 5G networks, not every MVNO offers 5G connectivity.

In the case of these providers, only Everyday and ALDI offer it via Telstra.  You can only get a 5G plan from Everyday if you opt for one of its postpaid SIM-only plans. ALDI Mobile's plans with 29GB or more come with 5G speeds.

Coles Mobile doesn't currently offer 5G mobile coverage on its prepaid and long-expiry plans. However, it does offer 5G via the Optus network on its postpaid SIM only plans.

The story when it comes to download speeds is similarly complicated. Woolworths' cheapest prepaid plan is capped at 100Mbps, while its siblings offer slightly faster speeds of 150Mbps. The one exception to this is the provider's most expensive long-expiry plan, which offers speeds of up to 250Mbps. Then, when it comes to postpaid SIM only plans, Everyday Mobile offers speeds of 150Mbps on most of its plans but if you pay the most expensive one you'll get speeds of 250Mbps instead.

Similarly, the download speed of ALDI's 4G plans is capped at 100Mbps while its 5G plans offer faster speeds of 150Mbps. Then, the $59 5G Mobile plan offers even faster speeds of 250Mbps for those that want it.

Finally, since it doesn't currently offer any 5G options, Coles Mobile's plans are limited to speeds of up to 100Mbps.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles vs. ALDI Mobile: Perks

Just in case good prices aren’t enough for you, the supermarket providers are known to tap on some extras as a small treat. However, at the time of writing, there's a much bigger gap between Woolworth's Everyday Mobile, Coles Mobile and ALDI Mobile on this particular front.

If you prefer perks with your plan, Everyday Mobile is the only game in town. To explain things in more detail, here’s what you can get from each telco.

Everyday Mobile

Everyday Mobile subscribers can get 10% off their Woolworths grocery shop once per month, provided that your Everyday Rewards Card is linked to your account. You can get up to $50 once a month. This could negate your phone bill entirely. This offer is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers.

Keep in mind you'll want to make sure you make a purchase big enough to use the full 10% in one shop. You don't want to waste the perk when you've just run out to pick up a carton of milk.

As of August 2025, Everyday Mobile now also offers eSIM connectivity for smartwatches like the Apple Watch and Pixel Watch.

Coles Mobile

Coles Mobile does not include much in the way of perks. This provider used to offer a similar voucher-based bonus to Woolworths' Everyday Mobile. However, this has since been discontinued.

ALDI Mobile

Apart from family plans, data rollover and some international call packs, ALDI Mobile doesn’t offer any additional perks like discount grocery shopping.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: International calls

Keeping in touch with friends and family abroad can end up being a very expensive effort. Rather than paying through the nose on pay-as-you-go rates, many providers offer international minutes as part of their standard plans or for a nominal extra fee.

Everyday Mobile

International calls are available for all of Woolworth's mobile plans but the inclusions vary depending on which plan type you're on.

On Everyday Mobile prepaid plans, you can get unlimited standard international calls and texts to 22 select destinations. Postpaid customers get the same, but to 30 select destinations.

International add-ons are available for 180 and 365-day plans from $5.

Countries you can call with Everyday Mobile

With 30-day expiry prepaid plans, unlimited calls to 22 destinations:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Israel, South Korea, Spain, Norway, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the USA

With postpaid plans, unlimited calls to 30 destinations:

For international add-ons double-check the inclusions available on Everyday Mobile's website.

Coles Mobile

Like Everyday Mobile, Coles' international call inclusions vary depending on which plan you're on. You get unlimited calls and texts to 15 select destinations on prepaid plans and 22 select destinations on postpaid plans.

Countries you can call with Coles Mobile

With 30-day and 365-day expiry prepaid plans, unlimited calls to 15 destinations:

Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the USA

With postpaid plans, unlimited calls to 22 destinations:

Bangladesh, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the USA and Vietnam

ALDI Mobile

From the 29GB recharge upward, ALDI offers unlimited international calls and texts to 20 selected destinations. You also get 200 minutes and 100 SMS to a further 30 countries.

Countries you can call with ALDI Mobile

With 30-day expiry prepaid plans from 25GB data, unlimited calls to 20 destinations: Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Kingdom and the USA

With 30-day expiry prepaid plans from 25GB data, 200 minutes of standard international calls to 30 destinations: Andorra, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Denmark, French Guiana, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Peru, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain and Sweden.

The remaining six countries are for landline calls only: Argentina, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: International roaming

If you're headed overseas then it's worth double-checking what your options are to avoid being stung by expensive international roaming fees.

Here’s what you can expect from each of these telcos.

Everyday Mobile

International roaming is available with any Everyday Mobile mobile plans, but it's not included as part of your plan. You have to pay for it separately via Everyday Mobile app. At the time of writing, there are five roaming packs to choose from.

All of these add-ons come with seven-day expiry. The first three are divided by region, offering overseas connectivity in a variety of countries across the Pacific, Asia and North America respectively.

For everyone else, there's a pair of 'Global' roaming add-ons. Starting at $20, these offer additional data and coverage for 69 international destinations. The more expensive of the two also includes 30 minutes of calls and 30 texts.

Pack Price Inclusions
7-day Pacific Roaming - Data only $6  1GB, 7 destinations
7-day Asia Roaming - Data only $9 1GB, 15 destinations
7-day North America Roaming - Data only $6 2GB, 3 destinations
7-day Global Roaming - Data only $20 2GB, 26 destinations
7-day Global Roaming - Calls, SMS and Data $45 2GB, 30 mins calls, 30 SMS, 69 destinations

Coles Mobile

Coles Mobile has one international roaming add-on available on all its plans in over 100 destinations. It costs $25 to activate, and then pay-as-you-go roaming rates are deducted from that $25 value.

Rates vary across destinations. Calls are charge at $1 per minute, 0.49c per SMS and 0.50c per MB for popular destinations including New Zealand, the USA, China, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines and South Korea. At a glance, those rates might not sound too bad but the numbers add up quickly. For instance, an hour of browsing Instagram could rack up a bill of around $300.

See Coles Mobile's site for a full list of countries.

ALDI Mobile

International roaming with ALDI Mobile is only available in over 50 countries and is charged pay-as-you-go. Service prices will vary depending on the roaming location.

Calls are charged at $1 per minute, 0.50c per SMS and 0.50c per MB in 10 top destinations, which include: Indonesia, New Zealand, the USA, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Fiji, China, Singapore, Italy, and Canada.

As with Coles Mobile, ALDI Mobile's approach to roaming isn't very competitive when it comes to overall value. For example, TikTok uses around 840MB per hour - so a little bit of late-night doomscrolling could cost you as much as $420.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: Data rollover

Data rollover or data banking is a feature that lets you take full advantage of your monthly data allowance. In short, any unused data will roll over to be used in the next month or will be saved in a data bank which you can draw from if you run out during the month.

Caps and conditions generally apply.

Everyday Mobile

Woolworths will let you bank up to 1000GB on its SIM-only plans and prepaid plans. However, there are exceptions to this. If you're signed up to either the cheapest Everyday Mobile prepaid plan or one of the provider's long-expiry plans, then the best you're going to get is 500GB of data banking.

In addition, you need to remain connected to the same type of plan before expiry (or move to a higher value of the same type) otherwise you will forfeit your data.

Coles Mobile

Coles will let you roll over up to 500GB on prepaid plans or 1000GB on its monthly SIM-only plans.

You need to maintain an active plan and can't switch plans without forfeiting your data.

ALDI Mobile

ALDI also lets you roll over unused data, but it has no specific limit on how much you can stockpile. You will continue to accrue data so long as you stay on the same plan or move to a higher-value recharge. You'll lose it if you don't recharge within 24 hours of expiry or switch from a regular plan to a family plan.

Everyday Mobile vs. Coles Mobile vs. ALDI Mobile: WiFi calling

WiFi calling is a way to access phone calls without using a mobile network connection but rather a WiFi connection instead.

Each of these providers offers WiFi calling through their respective network providers. That's Telstra for ALDI and Everyday, and Optus for Coles Mobile.

Frequently asked questions

How to buy an Everyday Mobile SIM card, a Coles SIM card or an ALDI Mobile SIM card

Unsurprisingly, you can buy any of these SIM cards in the corresponding stores. Everyday SIM cards are available from Woolworths, Coles SIM cards from Coles, and ALDI SIM cards from ALDI. You can also order a SIM online. To learn more about a particular plan click Go to site where it's available in the tables above.

Where can you buy SIM cards?

You can readily order SIM cards from telcos online. If the provider offers eSIM and you have a compatible eSIM device you won't even need to wait for anything in the mail in some cases. Out of the providers discussed on this page, only Everyday Mobile currently offers eSIM. Otherwise, you can pick up physical SIM cards from retailers including supermarkets, convenience stores and service stations.
