Moose Mobile and parent company Swoop are now offering mobile plans on the Vodafone network, moving away from their wholesale partnership with Optus. As a result, over 135,000 customers will be added to the Vodafone network.
New customers who sign up to either provider from today will have service on the Vodafone network, while existing customers will have their plan switched over in the coming weeks. A Swoop spokesperson told WhistleOut this will require a new SIM card.
"As part of the transition, existing Swoop and Moose Mobile customers will be required to activate a new SIM card in the coming weeks to avoid any interruption to their service," said the spokesperson.
"The activation process is quick and straightforward, with dedicated support teams available to assist customers throughout the transition. Customers can also visit the Swoop customer portal for more information and to activate their new SIM."
Since Vodafone's parent company, TPG, and Optus have a network sharing agreement, the change in provider shouldn't have too much of an impact on Moose Mobile and Swoop mobile plan customers. Both networks cover 98.5% of the population. Optus does have a slightly larger 5G footprint, however, covering 91.9% of the population, compared to Vodafone's 91.3%.
One other change worth pointing out is while on the Optus network, Moose Mobile and Swoop's top-end mobile plans had uncapped download speeds. Now every plan from both providers has a speed cap of 150Mbps.
On the flip side, both Moose Mobile and Swoop have cut prices on some of their plans, and now offer eSIM, following the network change. For example, Moose's 50GB plan used to be $33.80 per month, but it is now $32.80 per month. At the top-end, Moose's high-end plan used to be $55.80 per month for 220GB, but it is now $49.80 per month with 250GB. A spokesperson told WhistleOut the price decreases will be passed on to all existing customers.
