Motorola has launched its take on AirTags in Australia today, with pricing starting at $55 for a single tracker. Dubbed Moto Tags, the trackers are designed to work with any Android phone running Android 9 or better.
If one (and the device it's connected to) is lost, any Android 9 or better device can detect it through Google's Find My Device network.
Moto Tags are powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery said to last up to one year. They've also got an IP67 rating for water resistance. One unique feature is a "reverse finding" if you've misplaced your phone. Pressing the ringer button on the Moto Tag will make your paired phone beep.
Moto Tags are exclusively available through Harvey Norman and come in a choice of green or blue. A four-pack is available for $179.
Notably, Moto Tags have identical dimensions to AirTags, so they'll work with any AirTag accessories such as key rings and bag tags. Motorola isn't selling any of its own Moto Tag accessories in Australia at the moment.
If you are using one for luggage, however, I'd advise hiding it in your suitcase rather than having it on display for anyone to see and potentially take, as in Motorola's photo.
