Motorola's more affordable take on a foldable phone - the Razr 50 - is now available in Australia.
The phone retails for $1,198.80 which is about $200 more than the Razr 40 launched at last year, but $500 less than you'll pay for the high-end Razr 50 Ultra. $1,198.80 is also a good deal cheaper than Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 6, which starts at $1,799.
The Razr 50 is effectively a mid-tier take on the Razr 50 Ultra, featuring a few trade-offs to achieve a cheaper price point. Storage, RAM, and the chipset have all been downgraded to hit the lower price point.
What's notable is the external display is much larger than the tiny screen on last year's Razr 40, now measuring in at 3.4-inch. That's not quite as big as the 4-inch external display on the Razr 50 Ultra, but it means it can now be used to run apps rather than just displaying basic information and notifications.
Key specifications for the Razr 50 include a 6.9-inch 1080p+ internal display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Mediatek Dimensity 7300X processor, 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, IPX8 water-resistance, and a 4,200mAh battery. It has a 50MP primary lens, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP selfie camera. There's also eSIM support and wireless charging.
The Razr 50 is available exclusively through Optus in Australia. You can either buy it on a mobile plan and pay it off across as long as three years, or buy it outright.
You can pick up from the Razr 50 in a choice of koala grey, beach sand, or spritz orange.
