Samsung's Galaxy Ring is now available to buy in Australia, retailing for $699. While it's taken a little bit of time for the Galaxy Ring to launch in Australia, it comes with a unique 30-day "extended change of mind" policy.
If customers aren't happy with the Galaxy Ring, they're able to return it, no questions asked. Australia is the only market Samsung has launched this offer in.
As Samsung's first finger-worn wearable, the purchasing process for the Galaxy Ring is a little different. It will initially only be available through Samsung's online and brick-and-mortar stores, and it comes in nine different sizes.
To help get the right fit, customers can get a sizing kit when they buy their Galaxy Ring. After paying the $699, Samsung will send out a sizing kit. Customers then have 21 days from receiving the kit to place their Galaxy Ring order. If they don't place the order during this time, the $699 is refunded.
Notably, Galaxy Ring sizes are not the same as standard ring sizes.
Samsung Australia's Head of Wearables and Accessories Kylie Mason emphasised the importance of getting the correct size during a media briefing in Sydney.
Mason said the key learning from the Galaxy Ring's international markets - where the Galaxy Ring has been available for a few months now - is to "push customers to take a sizing kit".
While Australian customers can pick up a Galaxy Ring without the kit or try a dummy ring in-store, Samsung recommends potential buyers wear a dummy ring for at least 24 hours to ensure a consistent fit.

The Galaxy Ring was first announced back in July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. In terms of functionality, the Galaxy Ring is largely a fitness tracker. It has three sensors - an accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and skin temperature sensor - which are used to measure your heart rate, activity, and sleep.
It's similar to the information provided by a Galaxy Watch, but without the other "smart" features. The Galaxy Ring isn't going to vibrate for notifications, for example.
The Galaxy Ring is also a little bit more basic when compared to a Galaxy Watch. Mason described it more as a "wellness tracker" and pointed at it being best suited for sleep tracking and basic movement compared to the more comprehensive metrics of a smartwatch. A Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch can also be used in tandem.
In terms of battery, Samsung says the Galaxy Ring lasts up to seven days. There's an included charging case which has its own battery and provides another seven days of charge. The case itself recharges over USB-C.
The Galaxy Ring will naturally work best with Samsung handsets but can also work with other Android phones. Some features are Samsung exclusive, however, including Find My Ring and a double pinch gesture that can be used to control your phone. iPhone compatibility is out of the question.
Unlike rivals like the Oura Ring, the Galaxy Ring doesn't have a monthly subscription fee.
