There is more than one way to buy an iPhone, and as it turns out there is one way in particular that can save you a lot of money. Apple has partnered with Vodafone to offer $1000 off a new iPhone 13 if you buy directly from an Apple Store.
When you buy your iPhone 13 outright in-store at Apple you will then get access to two exclusive plans from Vodafone. Once you sign up to one of these plans you’ll get either $650 or $1000 off the outright price of your new phone.
Here are the plans below:
$59 per month
100GB
24-month contract
Infinite data - Capped speeds of 1.5Mbps
1000 international minutes to Zone 1 countries
iPhone discount of $650
$69 per month
150GB
24-month contract
Infinite data - Capped speeds of 1.5Mbps
1000 international minutes to Zone 1 countries
iPhone discount of $1000
While being locked in to a 24-month contract may seem like a big commitment, you’ll spend less over the same period by taking up this deal than if you were to go directly through Vodafone (or any other provider for that matter).
Below are the most popular iPhone 13 plans available at the moment.
Let’s look at the iPhone 13 (128GB) as an example. In the table below we have compared Vodafone’s cheapest SIM-only plan coupled with an iPhone 13, to the provider’s deal through Apple.
| Provider | iPhone price with discount | Monthly plan cost | GB allowance | Total spend over 24 months |
| Vodafone (direct) | $1,349 | $40 | 40GB | $2,309 |
| Apple | $699 | $59 | 100GB | $2,115 |
| Apple | $349 | $69 | 150GB | $2,005 |
Regardless as to which handset from the iPhone 13 family you choose, you’ll save between $200 and $300 over the course of your plan by opting to buy directly through Apple.
While Vodafone’s SIM-only plans are contract-free, note that you will be locked into the 24 month period with these BYOD options. This means that if you decide you want to leave part way through you’ll be required to pay out 50% of your remaining plan fees for the months remaining and the pro-rated extra value of the iPhone.
Ostensibly locking into this plan gets you out of making monthly repayments for your device, but if you do decide to leave you’ll need to pay either $41.60, or $27.10 multiplied by the number of months remaining on your contract, as well as 50% of the remaining plan fees. You can’t just take the discount and be on your merry little way.
These deals are not eligible for Bundle and Save discounts with the provider either.
If Vodafone isn’t your provider of choice, you can also buy your iPhone from Apple and opt on to a Telstra plan.
There are no extra discounts, but if you buy upfront through Apple and sign up to a Telstra plan valued at $65 or greater while you’re at it, you’ll get a $300 Apple Gift Card.
See this deal hereLocked down states where Apple stores are not currently open will not be able to take advantage of these deals, until stores reopen.
