Xiaomi just took the wraps off its Redmi Note 17 series devices, and the pair have some of the largest batteries we've seen in a mainstream device to launch locally. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has an 8,340mAh battery, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G has a 9,210mAh battery.
Until now, the largest batteries in phones we've tested have been around the 7,000mAh mark. Motorola's Edge 70 Fusion is right on 7,000mAh, while OPPO's Find X9 Pro has a larger 7,500mAh battery.
Battery capacity doesn't guarantee run time, but Xiaomi says the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will get as much as three days of use on a single charge, and a 20-minute charge will provide as much as a full day of use.
Another standout specification is Xiaomi's commitment to software and security updates. Both phones will get four major operating system upgrades and six years of security updates. Given the series starts at $599, that's solid.
