Another well-earned award for amaysim: for the third time in the last five years, the company has been crowned Australia's best-liked mobile provider.
amaysim has been named Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year in the 2017 Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards, beating out big-name rivals including Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. The telco previously took home the top honour in both 2013 and 2014, with the award going to ALDImobile in 2015 and iiNet in 2016.
More 2017 winners: Internode, Southern Phone, and Apple
The awards are designed to reward companies with consistently positive customer feedback and high rates of user satisfaction. Winners are determined by analysing the results of Roy Morgan's Single Source survey, which collects data from more than 50,000 Australians each year.
The Customer Satisfaction Awards include four telecommunications categories; in addition to awarding Australia's favourite mobile providers, Roy Morgan recognises excellence in broadband, home phone, and mobile manufacturing. This year's telco winners are:
Mobile Phone Service Provider of the Year: amaysim
Home Broadband Service Provider of the Year: Internode
Home Phone Provider of the Year: Southern Phone
Handset Provider of the Year: Apple
This is the fourth year in a row that both Southern Phone and Apple have won their respective categories, and the second for Internode (although the company did win best home broadband in 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011).
Happy customers = best plans?
While this is an outstanding result for both amaysim and Internode, the awards are based purely on customer feedback and satisfaction levels, so don't necessary reflect data such as nation-wide coverage, pricing or connection speeds. It's also important to note that Roy Morgan only selects winners from companies it is monitoring specifically for the awards.
This means that while most big-name telcos are included, smaller mobile and internet providers are often overlooked. So, for example, while Optus, Telstra, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone are all considered, many popular but lesser-known brands such as Vaya, Woolworths Mobile, Coles Mobile, or Lebara aren't included.
However, considering how often both amaysim and Internode have received the Roy Morgan nod in their respective categories - plus similar awards from Canstar Blue, Money Magazine, Smart Investor, and more - if you're looking for a provider that puts customer happiness first, either option is definitely worth considering.
