General Manager of Boost Mobile Australia, Jason Haynes said "By increasing the number of smartphones that are traded-in, Boost Mobile is looking to play its part in the circular economy, encouraging re-use of existing smartphones and easily delivering cash for unused technology, the ultimate win-win as budgets tighten and cost of living soars."
The Green Friday sale event aims to educate and help Australians shop with consideration and mindfulness. Other featured brands include felix, Good and Fugly, The Body Shop and more.
The Green Friday sale event runs until November 7, 2023.
Are refurbished phones worth it?
Refurbished phones aren't just good for the environment. Purchasing a refurbished iPhone or Samsung Galaxy phone is a great way to save on a premium handset especially when the cost of everything is on its way up these days.
It's also a safe move when buying from a legitimate retailer like Boost Mobile. Boost's refurbished handsets undergo 72 points of testing to ensure that devices are genuine, work and have a quality aesthetic.
You can also expect batteries to have at least 80% health. 80% is the threshold where batteries can start to degrade and you may want to look at battery replacement. Some of Boost's refurbished devices are advertised as having a "new battery" but you'll pay slightly more.
Finally, you may want to double-check how long the phone has left for important OS and security updates from the manufacturer. As an example, iPhones older than the iPhone X are no longer supported while the iPhone XS and XR models are still supported until 2025.
