Gadget manufacturers are on the warpath, relentlessly intent on adding smartphone connectivity to any and every household item. The latest - a Bluetooth mug designed to keep your tea or coffee warm at a precise temperature.
Manufactured by Ember, the 'Ceramic Mug' is an app-enabled mug that works with your iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android smartphone. The Ember app is used to set the temperature you want your hot bevvy, and the Mug will keep it at *exactly* that temperature. You can pick anywhere between 50°C and 62.5°C. Coffee, for example, is meant to taste best at precisely 60°C.
The Ember app also integrates with Apple's Health app on iPhone to track caffeine intake. Which frankly, sounds terrifying. I don't need to my phone guilting me about how much coffee I drink.
Ember's Ceramic Mug can maintain temperature for one hour on a single charge, and the included coaster acts as charger when plugged in.
Keeping your coffee at the perfect temperature is apparently a bit of a luxury: an Ember Ceramic Mug will cost $130. It is, however, a very nice looking mug.
While the Ember is currently available exclusively through Apple stores locally, you'll also be able to grab it direct through Ember by the end of the month.
