|---|---|---|---|---|
| Optus | 54.7 | 6.9 | 212.4 | 13.5 |
| Telstra | 49.7 | 6.6 | 178.9 | 12.5 |
| Vodafone | 45.3 | 8.7 | 157.9 | 13.7 |
Yet again, Optus remains the overall winner in this bi-annual report — coming away with a five outright wins and five joint wins across 14 categories. Optus has been recognised as the sole winner of both video and download awards plus the 4G Games Experience award.
For the first time, the Consistency awards have been broken up into two key areas — Consistency Quality and Reliability Experience. Opensignal’s Reliability Experience award specifically measures a user's ability to connect to and successfully complete basic tasks on operators’ networks. In this report, Optus and Vodafone jointly share recognition for both of these Consistency awards.
Meanwhile, Telstra maintains its fifth consecutive outright win across both 4G and 5G Coverage Experience. This means Telstra continues to offer the largest footprint of geographical network coverage in populated areas compared to the other two mobile operators nationwide.
It's worth noting that since the last Opensignal mobile experience report that while Optus has one more awards overall, but it has less outright wins. Vodafone is catching up, with the two sharing five joint wins in April 2025 compared to just one joint win in October 2024.
You can see how each network has performed across the various categories below:

Vodafone's recent announcement of signing a regional network-sharing deal with Optus has clearly affected this report's findings. Vodafone has now more than doubled its mobile coverage across Australia, gaining access to over 2,000 Optus sites in regional Australia. This has expanded its coverage to around one million square kilometres to service 98.4%, putting it just behind Optus which sits at 98.5%.
This is also Opensignal's first Mobile Network Experience report since Telstra and Optus finally shutdown their 3G networks at the end of last year. The shutdown has led to complaints from customers in rural communities.
Opensignal runs tests on devices from a selection of users on each network via its own app. The data for this report was collected between January 1 and March 31, 2025.
