Sibling telcos TPG and iiNet have both increased the price of their cheapest mobile plan. In both cases, the providers' entry-level offering has gone from a $25 per month plan with 25GB of data to a $30 per month plan with 30GB of data.
The updated plan now has 5G access, while the older version was limited to 4G. Download speeds are still capped to 150Mbps, however.
A spokesperson for parent company TPG Telecom confirmed to WhistleOut that some existing customers will be moved on to the new plan. Impacted customers will get an email from their respective provider, and will automatically be moved to the more expensive plan from their next renewal date.
Other TPG and iiNet mobile plans aren't affected by today's price increase. New customers can get the updated small plan for $15 per month for the first six months.

TPG and iiNet's price increases follow a spate of similar movements across the industry. Last week, ALDI Mobile announced it was axing its cheapest plan, and sibling telcos Tangerine and More both cut their entry-level mobile plans in August.
