
At the moment Telstra will only charge you $1 for your first month on its NBN 50, NBN 100, and NBN 250 plans, so if you’ve been wondering what life feels like with Big T, this is a low-stakes way to find out.
Telstra NBN plans are now all contract-free. You just need to send the modem back if you leave in your first 24 months, otherwise, you'll be charged a non-return fee. If you remember to ship it back, then you can test out Telstra for just a dollar. No strings attached.

After the first month, the prices will revert back to normal. That's $95 per month for NBN 50, $110 for the NBN 100 plan or $140 for the NBN 250 plan. None of these are the most affordable options out there - Telstra being Telstra they’re on the upper premium end.

In addition to getting your first month free, Telstra currently has a few other value adds. You can get two free months of Binge, three free months of Apple TV+, and four months of Spotify Premium.
Despite being expensive, all the participating plans advertise the highest available typical evening speeds on each speed tier. Customers can anticipate achieving download speeds of 100Mbps or 250Mbps, even during the busiest and most congested hours of the day.
Currently, Telstra is the only telco offering 250Mbps download speeds on its NBN 250 plan. Origin Broadband and Aussie Broadband are both a little behind at 244Mbps each. Both these providers offer cheaper monthly rates too, so if you’re happy to sacrifice a handful of Mbps then they’re viable options
Only FTTP and HFC customers can access NBN 250 at this point in time.
