Kayo Sports subscription plans have changed several times since the streaming service launched back in 2018 but the difference between standard (or basic) and premium has never been too complicated. These days, paying extra for Kayo Premium gets you 4K Ultra High-Definition streaming on select content and streaming on two simultaneous devices.
Here are those two plans side-by-side:
How much is Kayo?
Kayo Sports starts at $29.99 per month for Standard (previously Basic). That gets you 1080p HD streaming (where available) on one device and all the trimmings including complete access to the sports streaming catalogue, SplitView, stats, Key Moments and more. Kayo Sport Premium costs $45.99 per month and gets you everything Standard offers with 4K Ultra High Definition streaming on select content and the ability to stream on two devices at once.

Does Kayo Sports offer a free trial?
As of July 2026, Kayo Sports has removed its free trial offer. We'll update this section with more details if and when a new free trial offer is available.
How many devices can I stream Kayo on?
Kayo subscribers can stream on one or two devices on one account. Kayo Standard only offers streaming on one device at any given time, though SplitView is still available for streaming multiple sports on a single device. Kayo Premium offers two simultaneous streams on a single account if you and a family member have a schedule clash.
Does Kayo Premium offer more sports?
No. Kayo Standard and Kayo Premium both offer complete access to Kayo’s catalogue of live and on-demand sports. Both paid plans, however, offer more sports than Kayo Freebies.
Kayo Freebies are a small selection of completely free sports streams available through the Kayo website. The free sports offered on Kayo Freebies are rotated out but at the time of writing, there’s a selection of cricket, Formula 1 racing, and Sailing available to watch for free. It’s a decent way to try Kayo before you buy.
Kayo Standard vs. Premium: Data usage
Depending on the plan you choose, the content you're viewing and the strength of your internet connection, Kayo Sports data usage can vary significantly. Then there's SplitView, this unique feature lets you stream four different sports at once on the same device. Each stream uses up the same amount of data it would as a single stream, meaning SplitView can double, triple or quadruple your data usage.
So Kayo Sport can use as little as 300MB per hour on a single low-quality 360p stream or up to 13GB per hour with four concurrent HD 1080p streams, and even higher with 4K in the mix. All of this makes Kayo Sports one of the most data-hungry streaming services on the market.
Here's how much data Kayo is likely to use at each resolution per hour:
- Low-quality (360p): 300MB/hr (1 screen) - 1.2GB/hr (4 screens)
- Standard Definition (480p): 500MB/hr (1 screen) - 2GB/hr (4 screens)
- High Definition (720p): 1.5GB/hr (1 screen) - 6GB/hr (4 screens)
- Full HD (1080p): 3.25GB/hr (1 screen) - 13GB/hr (4 screens)
Kayo doesn't offer any official figures on 4K data usage but based on figures provided by other streaming services like Netflix, we can estimate that streaming Kayo Premium in 4K could use around 7GB of data per hour for one screen, and up to (or more than) 28GB of data per hour for four screens.
Similarly, your internet speed should be considered when choosing a Kayo plan. While one HD feed will stream smoothly with speeds of 6Mbps, you will need much higher speeds to reliably stream SplitView.
Once again, Kayo Sport doesn't offer recommended internet speeds for 4K streaming but providers typically recommend around 25Mbps for a reliable, single 4K stream. Considering these requirements are greater with features like SplitView, we'd recommend at least 100Mbps for the ideal Kayo experience.

How does Kayo Sports compare?
The closest comparable streaming service to Kayo is Foxtel Now. Kayo is essentially a cheaper sports-only spinoff of Foxtel and is the sensible choice for most sports fans. But it's not the only sports streaming service on the market. Take a look at the table below for a quick comparison of your sports streaming options in Australia:
