Every year, the Australian Open is the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, taking place in Melbourne at the start of the year. Outside of World Wars, the Australian Open has been held almost every year since 1905, which means 2025 wasn't the last instance of the iconic tennis tournament. If you're looking to stream the Australian Open in 2026, you've come to the right place.
Where can I stream the Australian Open?
If you want to watch the Australian Open in Australia, you've got a couple of options. The first is free via the Nine Network, specifically via 9Now if you're looking to stream the Australian Open live for free. The broadcast deal between Tennis Australia and the Nine Network lasts until 2029, so expect to find the Australian Open 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029 on 9Now. All you need is a free 9Now account to get streaming. That said, at the time of writing, the split between free and premium content was still being determined, so you may not be able to watch all of the Australian Open matches on 9Now.
As the owners of Stan, you can also stream all of the Australian Open 2026 coverage with a Stan Sport subscription. Stan Sport costs $20 per month, but only as an add-on for a base Stan subscription. It's $12 per month for Stan Basic for one SD stream or $17 per month for Stan Standard with two HD streams. Alternatively, pay $22 a month for Stan Premium, which has four simultaneous streams at up to 4K resolution. All in, that's $32 per month for Stan Basic, $37 for Stan Standard, and $42 for Stan Premium.
Unlike other sports (like NBA), the Australian Open will be broadcast at 4K resolution on Stan Sport. Note that 9Now resolution typically maxes out at Full HD. It's worth considering a Stan Premium subscription – even if it's only for a couple of months – to catch all of the Australian Open tennis action at Ultra HD, especially if you're watching on a 4K TV. Despite its singular name, Stan Sport isn't just about tennis; a Stan Sport subscription also includes football (soccer), rugby union, motorsport, combat, cycling, and extreme sport.
Stan Sport and 9Now have a mix of older match replays and highlights for Australian Open 2025, Australian Open 2024, plus other years, including Australian Open 2024. For free Australian Open replays and highlights, check out the videos on the Australian Open TV YouTube channel.

What is Stan Sport?
Stan Sport is a premium monthly add-on for Stan Basic, Stan Standard, and Stan Premium subscribers. What started with a full focus on rugby union has expanded to encompass tennis, soccer (including the EPL), motorsport, and more. Where available, Stan Premium users with a Stan Sport subscription can stream matches at up to 4K resolution.
How does Stan Sport compare?
Stan Sport has gone from a niche offering to one of the best sports streaming services in Australia. If you're a rugby union fan, you're obliged to have a Stan Sport subscription. But Stan Sport also keeps expanding its roster of sports, including marquee wins like Grand Slam tennis and the English Premier League.
Like other sports streaming services, Stan Sport has an expected range of features, including a healthy range of supported devices. Live matches on Stan Sport are fast to stream and, under the right broadcast conditions (and with the right Stan base subscription), available at up to 4K resolution, which stands out among a sea of Full HD sports streaming competitors.
Live sport is the main event, but there are also full match replays, highlights reels, and shorter replay packages that give Stan Sport subscribers multiple ways to watch or rewatch their favourite sports. Stan Sport subscribers can either jump to specific sports of interest or head to the Stan Sport hub, which has a logical layout of promoted upcoming games, recent replays, and trending matches.

Editor's pick: Great NBN 100 plans for streaming
Your Stan base subscription will ultimately determine the download speed requirements. Stan Basic uses as little as 3Mbps, while Stan Standard is up to 7.5Mbps per stream. Stan Premium, though, needs up to 15Mbps per stream for 4K content. Given you can stream simultaneously on up to four devices with Stan Premium, you'd need at least 60Mbps of download speed.
That's why we recommend going with an NBN 100 plan to comfortably cover up to 4K streaming, while leaving spare download speed for other devices in your home. Here's a list of popular NBN 100 plans from our database.
Stan Sport is compatible with a solid selection of modern devices. But not every platform is supported. Check out our breakdown of how Stan Sport compares to other streaming services in Australia. Is Stan Sport compatible with my device?
