Energy retailer AGL has partnered with streaming giant Netflix to deliver free entertainment.
The bundle is available when you sign up for AGL's new Netflix Plan for electricity. You'll get a free Netflix with Ads subscription (normally $6.99 per month) through a $7 bill credit each month.
You have the option of upgrading (or downgrading) Netflix tiers at any time. But you'll only receive the $7 credit. So you'd still end up paying either $9.99 or $15.99 per month out of your own pocket on the Standard or Premium plans.
No matter which tier you opt for you get a saving of $84 per year, plus the promotion is ongoing across the life of the plan - so long as you stay connected you'll keep receiving the credit.
Plus, when you switch to AGL you'll also get a one-off $75 credit.
The AGL Netflix plan is available for eligible households in New South Wales, Victoria, South-East Queensland and South Australia. It's a variable rate offer which means AGL may increase your electricity rates with written notice.
What if I already have a Netflix account?
Existing Netflix customers don't need to cancel. Instead, after your electricity is connected AGL will email you instructions for activating your new Netflix account. AGL says once your plan is activated through its sign-up link you'll be able to transfer your existing account over and avoid being billed twice.
AGL internet deals
AGL also offers discounted home internet plans when bundled with one of its energy plans. Not a bad offer when of course, you'll need an internet connection to get streaming.
Bundled you'll get up to $35 off your monthly internet bill for the first 12 months. Then you'll continue to receive up to $15 off your monthly internet bill.

Is Netflix through AGL a good deal?
One of the biggest things to consider before taking up any deal of this nature is: can you find it cheaper elsewhere?
AGL is just one of dozens of available energy providers and may not have the cheapest electricity prices for your household. Switching to the AGL Netflix plan might be ideal if you're already with AGL but if you're switching from energy retailer remember to compare your options and consider:
- Price. Is this the cheapest energy plan available for your household?
- Variable or fixed rate offers. AGL's Netlfix plan is a variable rate offer which means the retailer can up its prices at any time with written notice to you. Generally, this happens at most twice a year in January or July
- Solar feed-in tariff. Solar users will want to check if they're still getting a good deal for energy they transfer back to the grid
You can use Energy Made Easy to compare energy plans and make an informed decision.
