Like Thanos, paying for streaming services is inevitable in this day and age. But there are plenty of ways you can snap your streaming spending in half if you know where to look - and as someone who writes about streaming deals daily, I know where to look.
By cleverly timing free trials, taking advantage of monthly discount offers, or signing up via an external provider - like a specific energy or internet company, or even your mobile phone provider - you can score cheaper or sometimes free access to your favourite streaming services.
As someone who is subscribed to Binge, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Kayo Sports, Netflix, Prime Video, and Stan simultaneously, I have locked in some serious deals with these services (alongside free trials from Apple TV, Hayu, and Paramount Plus) that will save me between $563.65 and $604.53 over 2026.
Want to do the same? Keep reading as we outline our top deals from these streaming services and more, including BritBox, DAZN, and Foxtel.
Top ways to save on Apple TV
Total savings on Apple TV: $15.99 for one week of access
Personally, I am not currently subscribed to Apple TV simply because the current lineup doesn't interest me enough. However, here are two ways I have saved on Apple TV subscriptions in the past:
- Taken advantage of its three-month trial offer when purchasing an eligible Apple device (tip: just remember to opt out before the billing cycle commences)
- Taken advantage of Apple's seven-day free trial (this was done in 2026)
There are still other deals and ways to save on Apple TV, especially if you want to bundle in Apple Music and you're a student or just bought an Apple device.
- Watch on 6 devices at once
- Valued at $15.99 per month
- Watch exclusive and award-winning ad-free content
Top ways to save on Binge
Total savings on Binge: $84 for six months of ad-free access
In November 2025, I saved an impressive $17 in just one month with Binge's Black Friday $2 for any plan deal. I got access to Binge's ad-free Standard plan for just $2 instead of $19. After that, I cancelled my subscription immediately so I wouldn't stay on Binge's billing cycle. Plus at the time, there really was no content keeping me tied to the app, thanks to HBO Max launching in Australia.
In 2026, however, I found there were a few dribs and drabs of content I could justify committing half a year of my time to, including returning popular TV series Colin From Accounts and acclaimed films like Wicked: For Good and Hamnet.
Thankfully, Binge offered me, as a returning subscriber, $5 per month for Binge Standard for 6 months. This meant no ads and a saving of $14 per month, or $84 total over the 6-month period.
- Watch in 4K on two devices
- Valued at $19 per month + 7-day free trial
- Watch sports and premium TV and movies on-demand and ad-free
Binge offers a seven-day free trial across all its subscription tiers as well. So if there's a short series or a movie or two you're hanging out to watch, this is also a solid option. Otherwise, there are plenty more Binge deals to take advantage of if you want to commit longer (annual subscriptions) or align as an existing Optus or CommBank customer.
Top ways to save on BritBox
Total savings on BritBox: $0
While I'm no longer regularly signed up to BritBox, if I were, I'd be locking in BritBox's $65 off annual subscriptions deal, which is a clever way to save money on streaming. This deal is typically available during both EOFY and Black Friday sales, so keep an eye out. It takes annual plans down to just $75 from $139.99.
- Watch in full HD video quality
- Valued at $13.99 per month
- Watch ad-free British content on four devices
Top ways to save on DAZN
Total savings on DAZN: $0
Since I subscribe religiously to Kayo, it makes little to no sense for me to also have DAZN.
One money-saving tip we have, however, is to pay annually. Here's how the multiple payment options of DAZN's two plans break down:
- DAZN Standard: $24.99 per month for 12 months (billed monthly on an annual contract), $34.99 per month (flex, billed monthly), or $249.99 per year (billed annually, saving $169.89).
- DAZN Ultimate: $39.99 per month for 12 months (billed monthly on an annual contract), or $399.99 per year (billed annually, saving $79.89).
Top ways to save on Disney Plus
Total savings on Disney Plus: $55.92 over 12 months
I subscribe to Disney Plus Standard annually for two money-saving reasons:
- Subscribing annually essentially gives users two months for free.
- If a price hike occurs, it won't affect users until their annual billing cycle is due.
For example, Disney Plus hiked its prices in April 2026 by as much as $4 per month. If you were on Disney Plus Standard, you would've paid $17.99 per month instead of $15.99 per month.
But if you go the extra mile and subscribe to Disney Plus Standard's annual subscription in Dec 2025 like me, you would've locked in ad-free Disney access for all of 2026 for $159.99. This works out to be $13.33 per month. Sure, it'll mean the annual price will shock my bank account come Dec 2026 (it's increased to $179.99 for the year, but that only works out to a monthly increase of $1.67).
There are other ways to save with a Disney Plus subscription if you don't want to commit for a full year. These include making the most of Disney Perks or earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points just for signing up.
- Watch in full HD on two devices
- Save between $38 and $49 per year
- Watch exclusive content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars™, National Geographic, Hulu and ESPN
Top ways to save on Foxtel
Total savings on Foxtel: $0
Personally, I don't use Foxtel. However, subscribing to Foxtel is a great way to save on HBO Max and Netflix instead (more on that in the HBO Max section).
One way to save money when subscribing to Foxtel is to take advantage of its sales. These are run quite regularly but fluctuate based on savings throughout the year. Currently, Foxtel is offering $53 off per month with its $60 Family Deal, which includes Drama, Entertainment, Sport, and HBO Max (usually $113/mth). This deal runs until October 5.
- Watch AFL, NRL and F1 live in 4K Ultra HD
- Usually $108/mth (save $53/mth)
- Includes Foxtel Plus and HBO Max (usually $11.99/mth)
*$55 per month on a 12-mth plan. Min. cost $660. New customers only. Offer ends 30 June 2026.
Top ways to save on Hayu
Total savings on Hayu: $8.99 for one week of access
While Hayu isn't in my regular rotation of pay TV subscriptions, I used a free trial in 2026 just to see what it was all about. For one week, I got access to its entire library for free instead of paying $8.99, its usual monthly price.
There are, however, plenty of other deals and discounts on Hayu subscriptions if you love keeping up with the desperate housewives of wherever, especially at the same time as the US.
- Watch in full HD on one device
- Valued at $8.99 per month
- Watch ad-free reality content
Top ways to save on HBO Max
Total savings on HBO Max: $31.89 over 12 months
Subscribing annually is the only way I save on HBO Max. For Standard annual, you're looking at $159.99 a year. This is a saving of $31.89 over the year - basically two months free.
The added advantage of locking in an annual plan is that you will be exempt from surprise price hikes. That is, of course, until your annual billing cycle comes back around, like we already discussed with Disney Plus annual above.
Alternatively, a sneaky way to save on HBO Max and Netflix is to lock in a Foxtel plan. Select 12-month Foxtel plans include both HBO Max with Ads and Netflix Standard.
- Watch in full HD on two devices at once
- Save $119.88 per year
- Watch HBO Max Original content from Warner Bros., Discovery, Harry Potter, and DCs
Top ways to save on Kayo Sports
Total savings on Kayo Sports: $216.88 over 12 months
Kayo Sports is quite possibly the streaming service I save the most on annually. As a sports fanatic, it's hard to unsubscribe from it, considering it's the Holy Grail of sports content. The way I save so much on Kayo is by signing up for the Sydney Roosters NRL Digital Membership, which costs $335 for a year.
While this sounds like A LOT of money, the price of Kayo Premium over an entire year is $551.88. That's a yearly saving of $216.88! Even if you don't make use of the merch or tickets, it's still worth it. And even if you don't need Premium (unfortunately, I do), the yearly price of Kayo Basic would be $359.88, so you'd still save $24.88 a year.
It's also important to note Kayo doesn't offer an annual subscription option directly, so this is a clever way to lock it in for less. If forking out a bunch of money to save in the long run doesn't work for you, we have other ways to save on a Kayo subscription.
- Watch in full HD or 4K on up to two devices
- Valued at $29.99 per month
- Watch 15,000 hours of exclusive ad-free sports live and on-demand
Top ways to save on Netflix
Total savings on Netflix: $132 over 12 months
Downgrading to Netflix's ad-tier is really the only way I save on my Netflix subscription. Since I don't use Netflix a whole lot, but use it consistently every month, it only seemed logical to spend just $9.99 per month compared to $20.99 per month, saving me over $100 a year.
Unfortunately, this streaming giant does not offer a free trial, nor am I an Optus customer to capitalise on the Netflix subscription-saving deals they offer.
- Watch in full HD on two devices
- Valued at $20.99 per month
- Watch exclusive ad-free content and download content for offline viewing on two devices
Top ways to save on Paramount Plus
Total savings on Paramount Plus: $7.99 for one week of access
Personally, I don't use Paramount Plus regularly. However, I did have to subscribe for a short while to watch two movies (Naked Gun and Roofman). I did this by signing up for its seven-day free trial.
If I were to resubscribe to binge-watch both Marshals: A Yellowstone Story and Dutton Ranch, I could just switch my home internet plan to Origin Energy for a bonus 12 months of Paramount Plus, or make the most of other discounts and deals on Paramount Plus subscriptions.
Top ways to save on Prime Video
Total savings on Prime Video: $9.99 (plus potentially +$40.88 over 12 months)
Prime Video is one of the few streaming services I do anything special with to save money. In exchange for having it, I save on Amazon delivery fees, so it saves me money elsewhere. One of the few Prime Video deals I took advantage of was subscribing to its generous 30-day free trial, which saved me $9.99 before officially signing up - so that counts!
I could subscribe annually, but I like the freedom to unsubscribe whenever I want, even if it would save me $40.88 per year to lock it in (which in hindsight I probably need to do).
- Watch in full HD on three devices
- Valued at $9.99 per month
- Watch exclusive Amazon Originals, as well as popular movies and TV shows
Top ways to save on Stan
Total savings on Stan: $0
Like Netflix, Stan is a tricky one to save money on. There's no free trial, no annual plan option, and they very rarely run deals or discounts. It does, however, offer a cheap sports add-on if you want to avoid a whole other sports subscription. Here's how Stan Sport compares:
