Now that Nine Entertainment and Optus have finalised their long-rumoured English Premier League deal, the inevitable has happened and Stan has quietly increased the price of the Stan Sport add-on.
From July 1, Stan Sport will now cost subscribers $20 per month on top of their Stan subscription, up from $15 per month. That’s a 33% increase and around an extra $60 per year. However, as an add-on and not a standalone streaming service like Kayo Sports, the total cost of Stan Sport also includes a regular Stan subscription. That brings the docket to $32 per month at minimum with Stan Basic and up to $42 per month with Stan Premium.
This new pricing effectively makes Stan Sport even more expensive than Kayo Sports, which currently costs $30 per month for the Standard HD plan and $40 per month for the Premium 4K plan. Granted, Stan Sport customers also get access to the service’s TV show and movie library but they also don’t have a choice.
The English Premier League might have been at the centre of the multi-million dollar deal but it’s just one of the leagues heading to Stan Sport; the Emirates FA Cup, UEFA Women’s Euro and Women’s Soccer League will also be available to Stan Sport subscribers going forward.
To facilitate the transition, all current Optus Sport subscribers will be able to transfer their subscription over to Stan (and at no extra cost for most customers). This will grant Optus Sport customers access to Stan Sport and Stan Premium (now valued at $42 per month) at their current rate until January 2026. That current rate sits at $9.99 per month for Optus mobile and broadband customers who signed up through SubHub and $24.99 per month for those who signed up for Optus Sport as a standalone service.
