With millions of Australians now on the Netflix binge-watching bandwagon - and so much great content only available on the streaming service - it's probably time you jumped on board.
But if you're thinking about signing up for Netflix, you may be concerned that unlimited movies and television also means an unlimited monthly bill. Luckily, that's not the case.
We've broken down what you'll pay for each Netflix plan, plus what you need to know before you join up.
Netflix plan price in Australia
Netflix Australia pricing starts at $7.99 per month for an ad-supported entry-level plan, $18.99 per month removes ads, and $25.99 per month gets you the best possible plan with all the bells and whistles such as 4K, HDR, and spatial audio.
On top of higher quality video, paying more means you can watch on more devices at once. For example, you could have one stream going on your laptop, while someone else watches something different on your TV. More expensive Netflix Australia subscriptions also increase the number of smartphones or tablets you can download shows or movies for offline viewing.
Since Netflix's password sharing crackdown, customers on the Standard tier can add a single extra member outside of their home to their account for an additional $7.99 per month. Customers on the Premium tier can add two, but each additional member still costs $7.99 each.

How to get free Netflix
If you're looking to cut down your spend, select Optus NBN and 5G home internet plans include Netflix at no extra cost. These plans are referred to as "Entertainer" plans and include a standard Netflix subscription valued at $18.99 per month via the Optus SubHub subscription management platform.
If you're an existing customer, you can transfer your Netflix subscription to Optus and take advantage of the offer. You can also upgrade to 4K by paying the $7 per month difference.

Netflix & Foxtel Bundles
If you're thinking about taking out a Foxtel plan, you can bundle on a Standard Netflix plan for a little extra each month. The exact price depends on what plan you take up.
- Foxtel Plus and Netflix: $17 extra per month
- Movies and Netflix: $17 extra per month
- Sport and Netflix: $17 extra per month
- Platinum Plus: $0 extra per month
If you're thinking about taking out a Platinum Plus plan, adding Netflix is a no-brainer.
If you're considering one of the other Foxtel plus Netflix bundles, you'll save $2 compared to what you'd pay Netflix directly for a Standard plan. You'll be given the option to upgrade Premium if you want 4K streaming, but you won't be able to add extra members for account sharing outside of your household.

Save on Netflix through Hubbl
If you have Foxtel's new Hubbl set-top box or Hubbl Glass TV, you can save money on Netflix. If you have at least three subscriptions directly through Hubbl, you'll get a discount on your total monthly bill. This discount scales the more services you subscribe to.

Stan offers a wide range of content, including originally-made TV shows. Prices start at $12 a month for the basic plan.
Binge is Foxtel's take on a streaming service and starts at $10 per month with ads. You'll need to spend at least $18 per month if you want to avoid ads. You'll find plenty of big-name content you'd normally need to subscribe to Foxtel for, such as Succession, The White Lotus, Game of Thrones, Westworld, and The Walking Dead.
Amazon Prime Video is one of the cheapest streaming services in Australia, priced at $9.99 per month. The library is not as extensive as what you'll find on Netflix, but it now has a whole host of exclusive content including titles like The Expanse, The Wheel of Time, The Boys, and more. Amazon has also been funding original movies. Amazon Prime Video is part of Amazon Prime, so you also get free delivery when shopping on Amazon, among a host of other perks. If you want to go ad-free, you'll need to spend an extra $3 per month.
If you want to watch anything Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, or Marvel, you'll need to check out Disney Plus. The service starts at $13.99 per month for high definition, or $17.99 per month for 4K. On top of everything Disney, there's also content like The Bear, the Alien franchise, and Bob's Burgers.

Does Netflix have a free trial?
No, not anymore. Netflix used to offer a free month for new subscribers, but this is no longer valid for Australian customers. You'll need to sign up for at least one month to see what Netflix has to offer.
Does Netflix have yearly pricing?

Is Netflix cracking down on account sharing?
Netflix is cracking down on account sharing in Australia. Netflix accounts are locked to a primary location, and subscribers who want to keep sharing a password with someone living outside of said primary location need to pay extra to do so.
Netflix subscribers have been receiving warning emails, stating that their account is for them and the people they live with. For users sharing a password with someone else, the streaming giant suggests transferring the profile to a membership they pay for, or buying an extra member for $7.99.
A single extra member can be added to a Standard Netflix account, while two extra members can be added to a Premium Netflix account. Extra members can stream at the same quality as the parent account, but only on one device at a time.
The extra member is paid for by the primary account holder, rather than being billed individually. Extra members need to reside in the same country as the primary account holder.
What else do you need to know about Netflix?
One important thing to consider when signing up for Netflix is your internet connection. You'll want to ensure that your internet plan is equipped to offer the best streaming experience possible (and has enough data to match your viewing needs). All of the Netflix content you view contributes to your plan's monthly data usage:
- Standard Definition uses around 1GB per hour
- High Definition uses about 3GB per hour
- Ultra HD (4K) can use up to 7GB per hour
In addition to a plan with plenty of data, you'll also want one with decent speeds. Netflix can be watched with download speeds as slow as 0.5Mbps, but if you're on a HD plan, you'll want at least 5Mbps (such as NBN 12) to justify paying extra for better quality video.
If you're hoping to view in Ultra HD, Netflix recommends a plan of 25Mbps or higher - so, for NBN users, NBN 25. We'd suggest going for NBN 50, however, to ensure everyone in your household still gets a great internet experience.
