Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has revealed its Max streaming service will start at $7.99 per month when it launches in Australia on March 31.
Max will launch with up to 33% off across its monthly and annual plans when you sign up before April 30.
Here's what the three plans will look like:
Basic with Ads | Standard | Premium | |
---|---|---|---|
Price per month | $7.99 |

$17.99 |
Price per year | $79.99 |

Dolby Atmos | No | No | Yes |

You'll get your monthly Max plan at the discount price for the first 12 months. However, if you cancel your discounted monthly plan before the 12 months is up you'll forfeit any remaining discounts and need to pay full price if you sign up again.
Max's prices are similar to other streaming services already in the market. At $7.99 per month, the Basic with Ads plan will cost the same as Netflix's (at least while the discount is in effect).
Its Standard plan (discounted at $11.99 per month) is cheaper than Stan Basic for the first year, once the promotional pricing ends however it will cost the same as Disney Plus' Standard plan. At both price points, it's cheaper than Netflix's Standard plan at $18.99 per month.
Max's Premium plan both while discounted and at regular pricing will be cheaper than Netflix's Premium plan which costs $25.99 per month.
When it launches Max will be the new home in Australia for content from HBO, Warner Bros. itself, the DC Universe, the Harry Potter franchise and more. The Last of Us season 2 will be one of the first big shows to debut on the platform from April 14.
A few shows that started airing earlier in the year on Foxtel and Binge, such as The White Lotus will finish their season run on those platforms.
