Foxtel's suite of streaming apps - including Binge, Kayo, LifeStyle, and Flash - will no longer work in "very remote" parts of Australia from March 3 onward. Customers who want to keep watching this content will need to move to a traditional Foxtel subscription or Foxtel Now.
Existing customers who use the impacted streaming services exclusively in very remote regions will have their subscriptions automatically cancelled on March 3. Affected customers will be notified this month, and will be refunded as part of their cancellation.

Affected customers will be offered a Foxtel subscription at a comparative rate, although the company would not provide further clarification around pricing. Foxtel's traditional plans start at $73 per month and Foxtel Now starts at $35. Binge is comparatively much cheaper, starting at as a little as $10 per month.
WhistleOut understands only a small number of customers are impacted, so Foxtel will be able to account for issues like annual subscriptions, special promotions, and Hubbl ownership.
It's not quite clear why Foxtel is making these changes. When asked, a Foxtel spokesperson told WhistleOut that it's because of a change in terms and conditions but did not elaborate further.
"Foxtel Group is updating the terms and conditions for its streaming products, which will mean that Foxtel is the sole authorised provider of Foxtel Group premium content in very remote areas of Australia," said the spokesperson.
In addition to a traditional Foxtel subscription, very remote customers will still be able to use the Foxtel Now streaming service.
Today's announcement follows last week's news of an impending price increase for Kayo. From March 4, Kayo's flagship plan will cost $40 per month.
